This week im going to recieve my new Graphic Card :Leadtek PX8600GT 256Mb PCI-E DX10 but will i be able to play directx 9 games?Right now i have windows xp i know i need vista for DX10 but will it work for DX9 games on Xp?
@omego2k - blah blah blah have you got a 8600 & latest drivers....
@chaingang23 - the latest drivers are superb for xp & have just about got there with vista (158 whql or 160 betas).
just download drivers from nvidia, install card, install drivers & have fun
i have a sparkle 8600gt as i am on a wife induced budget i have it o/c to 630/850. i have gr8 performance with this card at 10x7 res. if u like higher res then the memory bandwidth might be an issue on these cards.
i get 3dmark scores of 01 ~21000, 03 ~16500, 05 ~9900, 06 ~4700
stalker 10x7 @ med/hi settings 40fps
lost planet dx10/dx9 demos ~ 30fps
titan quest 10x7 @ max 60+fps (2gb readyboost usb drive solved tq problems btw)
All these were on vista ult x86 (aprx 3-5% inc under xp) with x2 4200@2500, 2gb dc ddr2 667 @ 714, sata2 200gb etc etc etc.
so for the price i paid (£75 uk) i'm happy with the performance
as for ur original question....it runs dx9 games really well esp those shader intensive games of the last year or so
but try dual booting vista and give it a go so you can have some dx10 fun....now dx10 apps/demos/etc are starting to turn up
