ee I can afford one but im not stupid to waste my money on a card witch dX10 performance i dont know...

but we will c how it will run crysis...

some of you think that drivers can to miracle ... but some of us know that theres going to be just a faster card. Theres going to be 8900 soon ... you know that dont you? not.

Maybe someone even thinks that 8600 series nVidia cards can run dx10 games well Laughing like once 6600GT ran sm3.0 that is.... hint: it ran like shit.

People are going to just pissed when they find out that they cant play crysis with high resolution and high dx10 in game settings with 8800gtx thats all.

I think the 8 series are like the good ol' FX fiasko. An 8800 runs dx9 games great but when it comes to Dx10 it crawls. May be it's bad game coding, may be it's driver issues, who knows? But one thing I know is; I am not going to buy a dx10 card until a second dx10 generation card comes out, like G92 or r700.

btw: CoH isnt a real DX10 game... wait for crysis and we will all c how 8800 handles dx10. by that time nVidia probably has something called 8900 released soon.

so... that means nVidia is OK with these drivers and shows how powerful its 8800GTX is in DX10...

is it really hard to realize that your high end high cost 8800GTX cant run DX10 with reasonable frame rate and image quality ? Was it not so obvious... Crysis will probably show how the 8800 handles the dx10...

these new high end card will only last for a half a year before some shit comes out that kicks their asses... and you have to get a new high end card... thats how ATI/AMD, nVidia makes their money. ...

Not by any means its a rushed driver which needed to correspond with relics immediate patch.

no, the 8800GTX is a solid graphic cards with can uphold steady FPS in other DX10 titles such as Call of Juarez and Lost Planet. Whatever if Crysis will run decent or not time will tell and hopefully better drivers will emerge and overall better Vista optimized games.

And no the only one gaining any profit here is nVidia causing a monopol-like market share and we can thank ATI for that!

agree. btw by your reckoning discworl just nevr upgrade as EVERY 6 months a next gen card kicks the older ones ass. so why not just stay with 9800pro or something as when you buy 8900 in 6 months its ass gets kicked. your reasoning is fucked. us normal people want the best card when it comes out and so on.

Rolling Eyes LP DX10 works fine, so not a driver issue.

honestly, that kind of sucked.
No one cares what cut scenes look like in an RTS, not more than the actual gameplay.
You had 2 screens from gameplay, the last one didn't even seem to change. Why not record some actual gameplay and put it side by side to some DX9 gameplay.

Actually I had that 6600gt and it played splinter cell 3(sm3.0 game) wonderful...not with resolution maxed, and at about 30fps but still it did not run 'like shit.' Pretty good for a budget card. And ATI, as seems usual these days, did not even have a sm3.0 capable card at the time. They seem to adopt the new technologies later and later.

As for the 8900, sure it will come. But how soon? I am thinking whenever ATI steps up to the plate and actually makes a half-decent competing product. When that will be happening again? My money is on not very soon, if ever.. It's too bad because I still look fondly on the time when my 9700pro was king.

Quickie test on 2900, drivers 8.37.4.3(can`t use the 8.3Cool. Everything max, no AA/AF=22 average, 44 something max 4.4 min. Add in 16x AF and the min goes to 1,8, the others remaining fairly constant. Add 8x AA and:8,6 average, 18 max, 2,5 min. This is with a Pentium D 940 with 4 Gigs of RAM in Vista(obviously). The changes are fairly subtle at a first glance. The performance test seemed to basically have two chugging points, one when the paratroopers are rejoined and the second with the plane crashing, I guess that`s where the MINs were hit. I`ll tinker with it properly tomorrow."

I think the graphic improvement is marginal, but then again you have to remember its a dress up job as the game was designed for DX9 originally.

You've got to play it to actually appreciate the differences. Granted, they are pretty subtle. But I think the battles are much more realistic and awe-inspiring with dx10 effects applied. Along with tracers and explosions actually lighting the environment, there is much more special effects(smoke and so on) and physics and each unit seems to have more moving parts(tanks wheels and so on). Anyways I say just give it a try if you have the chance before drawing conclusions.
