you have vista or xp?
if you have xp sp2 with the latest deamon tools and the latest yasu and just for the safty set all options on in the DT settings. and even if you will get one error, keep trying that disc check, i can't see anyother idea's if it will not work after this.
thats what i did and befor the patch 1.1 i had sometimes to retry once or twice and now with the patch its better.
*first time right after the the patch, i had to start the game twice cause the first was error.

ok the only bug i have now with the 1.1 patch, is that i cant set the shadows to ultra anymore.... i change shadows to ultra and save, exit, enter again and shadows are set to high!doesnt save anymore... but i dont see any difference in game, maybe is just a bug in the settings menu?! anyone with the same problem?..
ummhhh maybe something related to this?
* Ultra graphic settings modified slightly to be usable with hardware of today.

Here's what worked for me to start the game... Mind you, the game is unplayable on my rig. I've put Overall GFX Settings on Low (640x480 for god's sake) and the stutter and FPS I'm getting in the first Career race has made me give up on the game. If anyone else has performance suggestions or little tweaks, bring them on.
I installed the game, installed the patch. Installed latest Daemon, SPTD 1.47, rebooted. Started Dirt, rebooted. Anytime I try to start the game from the desktop, I get an error. However, if I unmount and re-mount the image and use the "Play" option from the Autorun menu, the game starts up no problem.
If only I could play.

This game is crap idd,
The only thing i like, are those 1on1 tracks.
Even the live for speed demo is "still" more enjoyable for me.
(with only 1 goddamn track & car)
Where the real driving simulators at?
Gimme Nextgen NFS porche , ffs.
that was such a nice game.

If your post refers to me, I'd say, not quite yet. Wanna know why? Because, it's one game that has proven to be unplayable. And NO game, abso-fucking-lutely no game should be unplayable on 640x480 with everything turned on Low on my rig.
On this "old" rig, all other games I've tried including recent ones have been quite playable on 1024x768. So I don't see why I should magically crap money and buy a new computer for just one game.
I've downloaded the HDR removal tweak, see if that makes a decent difference in FPS.
UPDATE: After the postprocess tweak and using the first Career race as a benchmark, I get ~50fps when doing practice alone, ~20fps when racing with the other cars.
20fps doesn't do it for me, really. I'll stick to the solo races, for now.
UPDATE 2: After doing some reading in the official forums, I guess that if you don't have a controller for which DiRT has a preset profile for, such as the X360 gamepad, you're screwed with lousy handling. And that's what I get on my Thrustmaster Dual Power 4. I tried the settings on Page 13 that a user had with their rumblepad, I tried changing them a bit, I tried those on the official forums, nope, zip, nada. Really, really bad handling. Back to GTR 2 and TDU.

Without the patch works fine with deamon tools.
With the patch works only occasionally.
I had no performance issues or control problems anyway.
My advice stay away from the patch

Ok dude, i find THE WAY to launch GAME.
I just move my 2 image file to my ide harddrive ( its was on my first SATA one before)
DT4.09 with only securom option ( no yasu) > AUTORUN > PLAY :::: LET's GO
ITs work ALL THE TIME ,, just move YOUR ISO ON ANOTHER IDE DRIVE;

Exactly the same here. There are a lot of new settings in the GFX menu,I set them all to max..but shadows stay on high when re-entering. I see no difference however it still looks the same as before the patch and it runs much faster. (~+10fps)

game is install on my SATA Disk > image is on my ide drive.
