whenever I burn a DVD at x4,it usually doing it at x2.8 and my computer responses are very very slow,I tought it has something to do with the cpu,but according to nero and alcohol ,while burning it uses 0-2% of the cpu...my burner is SATA based.

any idea how to solve it? Crying or Very sad

its Ram dependent , check how much ram is set to cache the burning , you don`t need a fast cpu to burn even my old comp 486dx100 can burn dvds at 8x

edit: oh and the new nero uses also Ultrabuffer that uses your ram , by default its set to Auto

Wrong media maybe? My burner burns +R at 8x but I recently bought a spindle of -R by mistake. Damn thing takes 25 minutes to burn the disc. Luckily they're almost finished.

Note to self - Must get tatoo which says 'Get +R media'. Very Happy

his cp has nothing to do with it

i had P3 with 256mb ram and i burned a lot of dvd's at 16x with old nec burner, was browsing net at the same time no problem

so it's either your burner is fooked [try to update fw unless u already did] or maybe your ram/hd is faulty

btw i think this belongs in hw section

ok,in alcohol ,i've set the cpu priority to "low",now it burns at x2.5 and the computer responds very quickly, but its still burning slow.

maybe it has to do with the media?
I've only tried "Silver Line DVD+RW x4" meida.

the burner is brand new LG GSA-H62N.

ok,I've tried installing the 4 in 1 (VIA chipset drivers),with the SATA driver.

it goes to DMA,but the drive dissapears (WTF?). when I scan for new hardware, the drive appears again, but as PIO.
I think the drive is faulty, gonna RMA it tomorrow.
