well for one, i dont have to clogg up HD space with IMAGE and the INSTALL FOLDER. which is like 16GB!!, for 1 game, now i can delete the image and play the game with only 8gb used, and also now all of US that werent able to have it run on vista can run it..

HD space mustn't be a problem nowadays. Bought my 500 gig for 80 bucks.

Do I still have to install the SF drivers?
|
No, i think taht if you copy the crack just after installation and before starting the game for the first time, SF drivers won't be needed.

If I install the game and SF drivers...and then use the no cd crack...can I then delete all the SF crap? |
Yes.
Yesterday I played with the clone.
Today I applied the crack, uninstalled the SF drivers and the game works flawlessly |
Any differences between the clone and with the crack? Sometimes bad cracks or some cracks change the game. Sometimes is graphics, others gameplay, but basically for worst.
Is the handling with que crack applied equal to the clone version?

not to start an arguement, my problem isnt HD space, but i do like to use up my space wisely, cuz eventually it WILL get filled up, i have 3 HD's (internals, 160gb RAID 0 80gbx2 raptors, 320gb, and a 500gb) btw, totalling a RAW 960GB and believe me, with all that , downloading GB's worth of stuff daily, i still have to watch how u utilize my space, and my other point aboput using up 16gb for 1 racing game, its just not worth it, thats all i was trying to say ..

pc games have always been a leap ahead of consoles, so i dont see this as a new leap or significant or anything... its just the standard pc gaming process.
the thing that most excites me is that FINALLY consoles are catching up (atleast for the moment) to pc's, so it means that future console ports on the pc will finally start looking nice (...mainly thinking about gta games here, but it holds true for all of them now...)

chiv,
I don't think PC games are currently ahead of PS3 (or even X360)... PS3 raw power is impressive and it's fully dedicated to games, it doesn't have to run tons of shit & services like Windows does.
PC games have to work on crappy machines otherwise they don't sell (well except for dirt). I mean if today a publisher releases a game that requests 2gb of RAM a Core 2 Duo and a high end GFX card... the target audience will be too small.
Look at EA games (and don't speculate on crisis stick to what's already out) they are very mainstream in terms of content and hardware requirements.
PC games developpers can't fully use the power of the latest components because they need to think about older hardware...
I mean we are at the times of Geforce 8, and still most games still run on let's say a GE Force Ti 4600 (4 generations behind!!!).

How do you know that DiRT for PC sells well? I can't see it even in top 20 best selling PC games on European game store and Europeans are the most hungry for racing games.
C2D E6750 @ 3.2Ghz, 4GB 800MHz DDR2 4-4-4-12, GeForce GTX 260 c216 OC 896MB, 3.2TB, Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Xbox 360 Elite, PS2 Slim, Xbox

This is the biggest issue with PC gaming these days... Devs can't concentrate on targeting the best hardware because they have to add support for FX5200 and what not, so dumb-ass cheap monkeys could still play the game.
I mean ffs, it's mid-2007, and we still have morons complaining why games are SM3.0 only!

how the hell do u use a logitech racing wheel with this game? if i configure my logitech wheel in the control options and then start a race, nothing happens when i press the accelerate pedal?
the wheel is set up correctly and works fine with all other games. it also configures properly in the control options menu in the in-game options. but when i race, my car does not respond?
what's up?

it's in-game advertising trying to connect. afik
Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

Great game, require a bit of tuning because native wheel setup is pure crap. I have a dual 4400, a x1950xt +1gb of ram, with this system I can say the game is barely playable at 1280*800 with medium settings, good enough to enjoy it but I think I have the minimum requirement for this game.
