well im gaining a lot with no pain since I don't have to upload 15 a month for near ANYTHING I want without having to go through shit loads of sites to find what I want then have to worry about uploading 1:1 and ebing banned if I don't, plus I find it a lot more secure. Also don't forget I'm in the states so torrents are the last thing I want to be caught on or any other public place. |

lol I never did either till I got an account, then I was downloading 200+ gigs a month  my HD's got raped with all the goodies there was lmao.
btw, I hope you realize torrents are one of the last things to even get anything from teh scene as it has to be provided by someone with higher access...so anything that's on torrents is going to be on usenet first. |

I actually pay 3 (yes 3) euro / 10 GB of downloadable data without time limit, that's 0.3 euro / GB, and it's the worst offer since i'm only trying it now. even considering a giganews 13 euro/month for 25 GB (i would never reach that download amount in one month).
Yes not paying is always better than paying generally speaking, but:
- 15 euro / month or 3 euro / 10 GB is a very cheap price, one night at the cinema alone (ticket + fuel + drink + popcorn) would cost you more
- except torrents i have never seen such an high download rate, most of the times faster than torrents in my case
- you don't have to upload. everyone has rightly his personal opinion, for me that is a great plus
So i'll finish using some uhm terabytes of old material using the old mule and some private torrents, than i'll switch to usenet and i won't come back if not absolutely needed.
BTW, could someone tell me if the giganews encrypted service works without problems ?

giganews is only encrypted if you pay the extra money which is 30USD a month for the package, not sure if you can get it with the smaller packages, which is way to much for me. Anthris and I are signed up at usenetserver.com and is 15USD a month for unlimited access and free encryption, people said they had problems with them in the past but they've gotten a lot of stuff fixed since then. I've never had a problem with them other than stuff being incomplete that's really old which doesn't bother me the least bit.
Theres been tons of topics on this before so..here you go

Uhm ... 30 USD begins to be a nice amount ... i was thinking giganews with the silver+encrypted options @ 13+5 USD ... however usenetserver.com seems way better than that option ...

Lol no problem Either way Giganews or usenetserver is the way to go...people on here seem to use giga or usenetserver so either way your getting a good server, it's just how much you want to pay

What these helpful guys didn't mention is that usenet is a network where people can upload news messages to. But in order to download/upload the news you have to have access to the network either via your provider (a few do provide access) or by buying access from companies that specialise in usenet subscriptions. |

I'll rather wait one week for a movie to be downloaded instead of paying shit here and there for illigal stuff.
Im paying less than 10 USD per month to my ISP ,and downloading wihtout any limitation.
