Sounds good, looks fine. Can't wait.

Of course I will be interested to see how they pull off the real time angle and I'm totally in love with the micromanagement of individuals as opposed to the complete abstraction of previous titles. Dynamic goals sounds good but no word of dynamic campaign so what influences the goals themselves? Hmm? That is the one thing that marred the original Combat Mission titles - the lack of dynamic campaign.

Holy cow. I loved the original CM games. I remember how the armor penetration system was so exact, to even get a chance to take down a panzer you had to position just right. It was great when I'd hide a tank behind a building and just when a tiger was going over a hill, roll out and blast the fucker from below. Great games.

And the fact that it will be story-driven instead of just a mish mash of missions with no cohesion will be great, one of the lacking aspects of the origs. Of course those nice graphics and all the new technical features like deformable terrain wont hurt either. The screenies make my mouth water.

Paradox Signs Combat Mission: Shock Force

Quote:
Paradox Interactive announced today that it has signed a worldwide deal with developer Battlefront.com to publish their upcoming PC title Combat Mission: Shock Force.

The computer games series "Combat Mission" has received much acclaim from the gaming community for its simulations of tactical battles. Its fans span the globe and "Combat Mission: Shock Force" is described as the pinnacle of the series where the developers have poured years of experience into the game and its entirely new engine.

This tactical military simulation depicts a hypothetical near future conflict between NATO and Syrian forces in Syria.A highly story driven semi-dynamic Campaign, from the US perspective, offers a completely new experience for "Combat Mission" fans. Each battle include a detailed Mission Briefing outlining specific Objectives, which can range from taking a particular spot on the map to retaining force cohesion. The Objectives for each side can be different, allowing each side to fight according to its own goals rather than a single set common to both.

"'Battlefront.com' has carved a very special niche for themselves in the tactical battles simulations arena, much like Paradox Interactive has in the area of strategy games", said Executive Vice President Fredrik Wester. "Both companies are highly committed to bringing quality games with much replayability to fans of war and strategy games and we are thrilled to be publishing their flagship title "Combat Mission: Shock Force" worldwide".

"Combat Mission: Shock Force is the culmination of 9 years of experience in developing and publishing the award-winning Combat Mission series. It goes without saying that we wanted the best partner to bring this game to a worldwide audience, and when Paradox Interactive signaled their interest, we did not need to look any further", said Martin van Balkom, President of Battlefront.com. "Paradox' track record and incredible team is giving us exactly what we've been looking for in a publisher, and those who are familiar with Battlefront's past, will know just how much that means. Combat Mission: Shock Force is going to be a new revolution as genuine tactical combat simulation for the PC, and we're excited to call Paradox our partner to finalize and then release it to gamers worldwide!"

New Combat Mission: Shock Force Screenshots

While most of the news this week is getting hogged up by Theatre of War, and rightly so, we decided to show off a little more color that's been going into Combat Mission: Shock Force lately. The thing to notice are all the new "flavor objects" which we just added to the game. The new objects includes everything from street lights, crates, tires, to more elaborate stuff like ATM machines and Air Conditioning units for the more urban settings.

Gold - Combat Mission: Shock Force

Paradox Interactive announces that Combat Mission: Shock Force is gold, and the next installment in Battlefront's strategy series will be available in stores and for online purchase on July 27:

New York, USA (July 12, 2007) – Paradox Interactive announced today that their big summer release - Combat Mission: Shock Force, has gone gold.

Shipping to stores worldwide on July 27, this tactical military simulation has strategy fans all over the world in suspense. Combat Mission: Shock Force is the latest installment in the Combat Mission series developed by Battlefront and has been referred to as their flagship title.

"Earlier entries in the Combat Mission series have earned their place as ground breaking in their own genre and Shock Force will be no exception, said Fredrik Wester, Executive Vice President of Paradox Interactive. "This is a much anticipated title among wargamers and strategy gamers alike and we are very excited to bring them what we believe is Battlefront's best work to date".

"We've poured all of our skills and earlier learnt lessons into this project and are more than proud of the end results, said Martin van Balkom, President of Battlefront.com. "With Combat Mission: Shock Force, the series has taken a quantum leap and we are thrilled to work with Paradox Interactive to ensure the game reaches gamers all over the world.

The game has been rated for Teens by ESRB, 12 by PEGI and 16 by USK. It will retail for $39.99/€39.99 and will release simultaneously for digital download on GamersGate.

You wish!!!.................nowhere have the devs said the download will be available in a few hours. Only thing they have said is that it will be released on the 27th US time and considering that the earliest any US state will enter the 27th is in 7 hours then I highly doubt it will be released within hours like you say......highly doubt they will release it at midnight US time and earliest noon US east coast time. which is almost a full day away.
And it might be even later than that since all they said was it will be released sometime during the 27th in the US

Yeah, the game is choppy and laggy. Especially with nvidia 8xxx cards and dual cores. Another 40bucks wasted on an unoptimized game. Mad

Very Poor Performance and Freezes

Symptoms - framerate less than one would expect from a much slower system and infrequent, but common, freezing up. Some cases of "warping units" likely related to this problem.

People Affected - seems to be multi-processors (AMD 64 and Core Duo), with 32bit OS, and nVidia card of 7xxx and 8xxx series (drivers don't make a difference)

Solution - none at present.

Second game I bought this year, second time I have to wait for a patch. Mad

Well considering my system is:

AMD64 3000+
Nvidia 7800GS
1 gig ram
Win Xp SP2

then that really should tell you that it has nothing to do with those specs u just posted since thats excactly what I got and like I said full version runs like a dream here for me. havn't tryed the demo though.
Everything is set to high on my machine and its smoooooth!!!

But as usual I suspect like in most cases where I also read in this forum alot of times where ppl complain about bad performance in some games that it's a matter of either poorly setup system or hardware conflicts in their own system. which I rarely experience even on my older system.
Most people always think it's the games fault and it's a matter of badly optimized game if it runs like crap for them. It sure as hell never could be their own system that has issues.
Now alot of kids will jump in and flame me for saying that telling me how it for sure aint that cause THEY know what they are doing with a computer.
Either way.,,,,,if you check out the official forum you see that maybe 10% is having performance problems and there is no red thread as to why they are having them. The rest have no problems.

I didn't have any problems with other games (eg World in Conflict), so I would guess it is the game...
And reading through the battlefront forums gave me the impression that more people have performance issues...
Anyway: BFC always fixed the problems for their games, so I'm sure they will release a patch for the issues.
(Or my system is crap and I'm too stupid to configure it correctly.)

AMD64 3000+ tells me its a single core CPU so the freezing and such wouldnt affect you. Maybe you forgot the X2 bit?

1.01a patch - fixes a problem with the previously released 1.01 patch.
(Unsure what it fixes since I haven't found the 1.1 changelog yet.)

Excellent game - however there are a few things I wish they had kept from the other CM games.

Moving around on the map - why on earth did they change it from the other games?
Buying your own units in quick combat - I loved this part in the other games, kind of sucks that they removed it.

Apart from that, the game rocks. Im no big fan of desert fighting - but it's still really cool. The new artillery options are awsome!

Edit: oh, and i've got a X2 cpu and have no problem with speed at all.

Yes, as far as i know. Theater of war has also been released so you can buy it on cd. But they haven't been able to crack it yet.
I just bought the online version today. And i must say : This game is awesome. I would recommend any one who likes Arma to buy this game.
