i just played it a week ago in two sittings and really liked it. If i had payed money for it, i would have hated it though, as it really didnt bring anything new to the title and the story. But some of the horror-scenes were even better than the original, especially the last levels that strongly reminded me of the max payne dream levels. Good entertainment with not much replay-value or story, but enjoyable as an addon...
...but judging from the video i f.e.a.r. the second expansion will only deliver more of the same too, with only bits and bobs added, so i wont buy that either and rather check it out for "free".

Did Extraction Point even have a story? All that I saw was people died. EOF. And who is making this one? I thought they ditched the shitters after E.P.

Who gives a shit about the FEAR story? "Alma gave birth to a million soldiers who gave birth to alma and they all played 3dgayvilla and lived happily ever after". lol so... intriguing. But the Extraction point was better than the original fear imo, because the combat was more fun to me. But FEAR is a boring title me thinks and its not worth the praise.

with my new pc i was finally able to play through fear - finished it a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it... i thought it was great, the story was actually one of the better ones id seen in a game - not because it was ultra complex, but rather how it was delivered, and the mood it set... great stuff, pity about the middle section of the game...

but do you know what the creepiest part about the game was? it wasnt the dream sequences, or the invisible dudes, or the ghosts n shit..

it was that EVERY FREAKIN WALL CLOCK IN THE ENTIRE GAME STOPPED AT THE EXACT SAME TIME! ...makes my skin crawl just thinking about it...

Naww, creepiest part for me is when you meet those invisible dudes for the first time, and then they toss a body through an office window at you. Really gets your blood going, and yet you have no one to shoot at Smile

i mean you DID start the game some time in the afternoon, but some places you enter after dark, and you KNOW that fettel hadnt been there THIS early, yet the clocks throughout the game ALL STOPPED AT THIS TIME...

and as for the bit where they throw the guy through the glass, dude i KNOW! that was the only time i think i actually got a fright in the game... the game was kinda unbalanced, in that the early missions had great atmosphere, and the final levels just werent scary at all... just like the middle had no real story progression, and the ending had awesome story moments, especially the second to last level... but i wont change my opinion... the clock of evil is still the creepiest thing in the game... it doesnt jump out and melt your flesh or anything.. but its always there... watching... not keeping time properly... scary... Sad

i think the clock was behind the whole thing... controlling alma... im sure we'll see it again in the sequel.... its like that cigarette smoking dude in x-files... the clock pulls the strings... THE CLOCK PULLS THE STRINGSSSssss.....

Had a lot fun with it at least. Well, as long as it lasted. Some cool scenes. Never found the first one THAT scary... this one was a little scarier imo. Also had good atmosphere.

Best part - in original FEAR when you approach the ladder (in some basement i guess), turn around and see Alma appear right in front of you. Damn, that was great.

Scary shit is not my type. Very Happy
I played for a good few hours the first one, until I felt my heart beat increase at some dark-silent-creepy areas Laughing

it got less scary as you progressed, so if youd stuck with it, it would have become more about wicked ass gun fights rather than creepy dark sequences...

True...
I think the most scary games were Undying (morphing paintings and many other things) and The Suffering 1 (scripted images appearing on-screen). Shocked

The Suffering 1 scripted images were cheap, its like scarying your grandma from behind the corner. And I dont understand how the hell you got scared of FEAR? I wasnt scared not once in this game. What did you do? Read the walkthrough and got in all the hidden rooms with crazy shit or something? Laughing

Agree,

Condemned was the first 3d FPS game that really got this intense horror atmosphere imo..

Probably my biggest fright in fear was when you're in a vent and Alma runs at you on all fours. What a waste of an ammo clip.

But the only part of a game to really freak me out was Shalebridge Cradle in Thief 3.
