Well I think it's the same as it was with STALKER. With all the delays, it has become shit from graphics standpoint. However, from gameplay standpoint, it looks good, and I hope it's a good game.

i forget, how solid is the single player campaign? does it have strong single player or is it mainly an online multiplayer game with a short single player game tacked on? i agree, from what ive heard, it MIGHT have good interesting gameplay...

Well it certainly doesn't look as good as Crysis, but it actually looks rather good despite all the delays. Certainly does not look like shit at all.

do report in how it looks/feels/handles.
I don't think I'll get a alpha/beta key but it's worth a shot.

Feels like a mix between Diablo 2, Guildwars, and 3rd Person Shooter.
WASD for movement, LMB/RMB for left weapon/right weapon, hotbar for skills, the usual stuff.
Things that stand out so far: you can add mods to weapons, and then remove them again for a fee without destroying neither weapon nor mods. You can also upgrade items, give them common, rare and legendary abilities/stats. Again for a fee. Or create items from scratch by disassembling other items and using the parts.
GFX is decent, although no high quality textures in this alpha, probably to save size.
Audio is fitting, the music could use a do-over.
Overall not bad, could get big.

Are the levels still randomly generated or did they scratch that? I think that's one of the reasons the environment looks umm, old.

That's what they wanted it to be. I think a developer once said they wanted something like Diablo meets Half-Life.

Yes that is still in, and it is good that way. Dungeon Siege or Titan Quest will never have the same replay value as Diablo 2 because you know each turn of the way and every single tree. And important locations still can be fixed solid.

thank god the levels are random gen. That's the whole reason I want it. To go in, beat some stuff up and get out and know that no 2 times are REALLY going to be the same.
How'd the activation/key code/security go on this? Anything special? Curious what was in store.

Key locations are still the same in every game, just like in D2.
Activation was via unique key account creation on their website.

considering GTAIV was blown off till next year this fits in well with my plans to grab bioshock and then this. I was going to buy a 360 for bioshock AND GTAIV but now I don't have to anymore.
All in all I'm glad they release it then instead of waiting till next year.

And why the suckage? I think its a good thing. If the two games were released simultaneously, either one of two things would happen:
1. One of the two would get pushed aside for later gaming, which is a sin considering the potential quality of both (hopefully) gaming masterpieces.
2. I would be forced to play both games and the sheer level of video game badassness would cause a sudden and devastating brain hemorage, forcing me to fail at completing both games because of the resulting status of me being a vegetable the rest of my life.

LOL!!!! That would suck!
I just meant that it will take me about 2 weeks at a few hours a day to beat Bioshock. That takes me into early September. It would have been nice to have Hellgate London come out around 9/15/07! That would have been perfect. Halloween is to long a wait that's all. I am just really looking forward to this game.
