You have to love the default master league team with the flair of Miranda and Ximelez coupled with the power of Barota and the craft of Castello up front! Also Valeny and Celini keep it rock solid at the back!

WOooooooooooooooooo
I played this on PS2 all night and it's AMAZING. The new animations are great (especially one sick looking foul anim), free kicks are better, you can score some truly stunning long range volleys depending on who you're controlling, everything is even more fluid and smooth than before, the ball physics are even more realistic which creates really interesting deflections etc, your teammates create much more useful runs, the players kits even get dirty - basically they took away nothing from the old one and added a bunch of cool stuff. I didn't play against the computer yet, but this game is made for 2 player anyway. Can't wait for PC version.
Oh and there was some bad points carried over from PES3 too - the advantage rule has been improved but still doesn't work on every occasion, you can still get fouled and have advantage played but then lose the ball right after and the ref doesn't do anything. Sometimes it does work properly, it's about 50/50, so they're getting there. The second bad thing is the "bug" (I thought it was a bug but since it's in this one too, maybe it's intentional) where sometimes your keeper won't throw the ball out, you hit X about 10000 times and he just stands there, then after about 5 seconds he hoofs it up the pitch as if you hadn't touched the pad. Both problems are minor.

I already have it on pre-order, but The PC version I'll just download.
A lot of what I've read suggests PES4 is better than WE8, how would you react to that? Specifically I'm wondering about players like Zidane (obviously) do they play more like real life in that he hugs the ball, is able to control and balance himself with defenders closing him down and plays lay offs and passing game?
Or is it more or less the same in this regard?

this might have something to do with their stats, aggressiveness or attacking points.. I don't know - but what I do know is if there are opponent players in your box your keeper will throw it 9 times out of 10, whereas vice-versa he won't.

I haven't had a chance to play WE8.
I played a few games with Real Madrid and noticed that Zidane is fairly slow now (getting old hehe) but he keeps the ball well, I don't remember if his passing was all that special but it prolly was. It's all about Carlos though, he fires ROCKETS when you shoot, and it's far easier to get them under the bar from long range now, first goal I scored we just sat there shocked at how fast it flew into the top corner, I'd never seen a goal like that in the old version.
Wayne Rooney doesn't play for Man Utd in this for some reason (easily fixed), but he was prolly the best player I saw in the game. Scored a hat-trick with him for England. There's definitely more difference between the players now, some people have their own running animations and there's a different 'feel' depending who you're controlling.
Makes me wanna buy a PS2, wanna play some more.
One more thing I forgot, if anyone remembers the through-ball from ISS2 on Playstation, it's back In PES3/WE7 it was there but almost every time you used it the ball would get intercepted or the teammate wouldn't run at the right time, etc - but now it's back to being the most devastating attacking manoeuvre. Hit Triangle, watch your player beat the offside trap (which defenders actually do now, complete with raising their hand and looking to the linesman) and get one-on-one with the keeper, cackle with laughter, then watch your opponant get pissed off and start changing his formation to try and stop you

Zidane plays just like he does in real life - it feels a lot more realistic in that respect that previous games. Also, I haven't played WE8 but I've heard that PES4 is a lot better from people who have played both.
