To keep in topic. Anyone tried from the previous thread that: rename bioshock.exe to oblivion.exe to get AA in ATI cards. Someone posted it, but no-one replied? Might as well try it myself with demo.

Quote:
2K Games has identified a small percentage of Big Daddy figurines that have been damaged in transit to US and Canadian retailers. We are in the process of setting up a replacement program to ensure customers who are affected by the damaged figurines are issued replacement figurines as quickly as possible.

Since redemption will not be immediate as replacement figurines are currently beginning production, we will be also sending affected customers a complimentary special printed edition of the BioShock art book, "Breaking the Mold," to enjoy while the replacement figurines are produced and shipped. Additionally, 2K Games will cover all shipping costs for the figurines and art book.

Please check back at this page shortly for details on how to obtain a replacement figurine. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced.

what the hell?

the people with broken figurines receive a art book?

Yup, I'm just wondering how 2K would know that the statue was already broken? I mean, you could easily "accidently" drop it, break it and collect the art book...

It appears they were all sold in Gamestop... and if you check one side of the box you can see big daddy through it so you can see his drill

Sorry but you are wrong. Don't make unfundamented statements like that...
That's why people are incorrectly informed.

No, I'm not. You have to call them and ask them to unlock it for you. That's great if you live in the US, but there isn't anyone to call around here in IL, is it?

Then you don't loose the game do you? You forgot to clear that when bluntly said you loose the game...

"The OS fails to load?" WTF? You seem like a loud-mouth wiseguy-asshole here, yet you imply that you can't even maintain your system so that it does not crap its pants on boot-up? Thou art the real moron, man.

You seem like a wiseguy-asshole here you've never had a hard drive crash? Your OS can always fail to load and it's not always about system maintainance.

And about the activation, online activation is just fucked up. Here's an example theory 2K goes bankrupt and the acivation servers go down, now I want to see you activate the game. I you own the game you should be able to install at any time and anywhere even 20 years from now.

I see your point on the activation thing, but I think if the bankrupcy scenario would really take place, 2K would probably release a patch to disable the activation alltogether before the servers go down.

in 20 years, I doubt they would bother as most people wouldn't care about the game except 7 or so people in the entire world that would just want to be dicks. Most likely if there is a case where the servers go down in 20 years, the game would be dead.

I think the PC-scene is having real difficulty cracking this game... however, it's been out for only a day now. Anything can happen now, lost planet took a few days too if I'm correct.

Yeah baby, the Oblivion AA trick works =) Kinda killed my framerate though xD

First without AA (forgot catalyst AI off), second and third one with 6xAA + 8xHQAF. edit: and this was with ATT.

If I want to play it with AA, do I have to force it in the nvidia control panel and rename the exe to oblivion.exe? Or did i forget something?

Renaming to Oblivion.exe only applies to ATi users if I am correct. For nVidia users like me only force A-A via the official Control Panel and it will be applied in the game properly (it worked for me in the Demo).

Thanks for the quick reply. On a side note, is there a big difference between the "Performance" and "Quality" setting in the control panel? Right now performance is selected here.

There is info for nvidia cards also, oblivion thing is just for ati cards. Also you'll need a HDR+AA capable card, so geforce 8 series or radeon x1000/x2000.

Here goes some clarification regarding the activation.

Yes except it does not work, people getting the activation error, stil cant activate even if they uninstall some of the old installations.
That's why I've just canceled my 2 preorders, i'll just wait for a scene release.

Eew ... Performance ?

Well if you have a lower-end GPU, yes do select "Performance" in the quality settings of the control panel, but if you got a decent card, something in the range of a GeForce 7 with 256MB and above, then I see no reasons to not select "High Quality" instead. And yes it DOES make a tangible difference in most games (the distant textures will look very blurry at "Performance", and more crisp, less blurry, almost filtered if set to "High Quality").

Anyone using a GeForce 8600 and above shouldn't have any problems with "High Quality", or at least not with "Quality". Other than that it looks way too blurry for my tastes.

here's something cool from the 2k forums:

http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6263

Apparrently 2K doesn't have a plan in place if somebody needs help with activation when people get passed the 2 time activation. I find this cool. I almost don't want this game to be cracked just to see the backlash in a month after thousands of people can't activate.

Should be enough if you don't use AA.

I know that Unreal Tourny 3 was said to have it only available in DX10 as MSAA, but I know RS Vegas worked with AA forced.

I think we did get into a scuff, I ended up being a graphics whore or something.

Regardless, we can agree that 2KBoston has no concept of FOV, especially with 75 degrees... dear god that'd still piss me off on a 4:3 monitor.

Iif it does stop the game from being cracked for quite a while i'm sure it'll be worth it for them.
