Nope, it's not a new Gothic!

Publisher Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes announced at Leipzig GC that a new RPG is in the making. The working title is RPB - "Roleplaying [Game] by Piranha Bytes".
The only info is that it will have an open world, just as in Gothic, and will take place on a volcanic island, abandoned by gods and taken over by forces of evil (surprise!).

To be honest, I'm not so excited. After their latest 'open-world'.. They better come up with something good this time. I refuse to get all hyped up like when I did with Gothic 3.

Thanks for the news!

well gothic wasn't that bad, but it had sooo many bugs, it was almost unplayable.

Well I thought the storyline in the previous parts were much thicker. Here they talk about an open world, which is indeed very big but it seems like they have created a story as big as the previous one, but spreaded it out over too big an area.

I mean, basically you were doing the same everytime with a different camp. Working your way up, then slaying the boss. Next camp.

Once I had done that with 4 or 5 camps, I just quit, because together with all the bugs it had it was just not entertaining enough to keep me going.

I've lost all confidence in them after the third part. Their biggest mistake is the lack of decent coding, it usually takes them a year to get the major bugs out of their games. That was forgiveable with Gothic and Gothic 2, but Gothic 3 was as generic as it gets. I guess they went with the "bigger is better" BS. And let us not forget, they didn't 'finish' Gothic 3.
If they get some decent programmers, hire some more employees, try to keep it small but full and get enough time, I'll be a bit optimistic.

So, fuck PB.

Yes i have to agree unfortunately Gothic 3 sucked hard, the storyline was way to thin and boring, the quests where boring fetch&kill stuff and nothing else , and the combat system was the worst shit ever created, ontop of that the games was rushed and buggy as hell, PB should have fixed this mess with their promissed mega patch but instead they
lied andl betrayed theyr fans and stoped working on the game months bevore they split up with Jowood but told everyone about the big patch they had in works., there is no way in hell that i ever buy a game from this assholes again.

Well hopefully, since it's on the 360, it'll run great on the PC.

lol who am I kidding? Expect another Gothic 3 only worse since it'll be a 360 port. </baseless comments>

Well at least it will have to pass the Microsoft quality certificate on the xbox and the shitty port certificate for the pc so hopefully it will even out somehow.

I'm not sure this really is that big of a factor, as GTA4 PC has also passed MS quality certification, and we all know how much quality there is in it. Smile

Actually it passed all the shitty port tests with flying colors Laughing that is the only certificate the pc has right know maybe if the 'bill of rights' gets in there will be more.
