Are there comparison screens anywhere (DX9 screen above DX10 screen)? Would have to see it to believe it as thusfar DX10 has been nothing but hype.

And it is nothing but hype. Difference is very little to none as usual, he is just trying to justify having bought expensive DX10 hardware and installing bad os for that.

I'm sure you guys don't see the difference between SM3.0 and SM2.0 either. SM3.0 is pointless, isn't it?

The difference for me was like -40 fps in the benchmark test. Get like 50 fps average on everything high dx9 mode and 10-15 fps average high dx10 mode. Awesome!

yeah you see the difference mainly in lighting & shading plus the ground deformation looks better. there subtle differences since. I think the only game to date that will show us Dx10 in all it's glory is crysis...until then I think it will just be dx9 games with dx10 features implemented... just my 2 cents

Obviously some ppl here never tried COH with the DX10 patch. And they don't seem to understand screenshots are not a good way to see a difference.
Oh well.

yea
looks like a great RTT game... im a bit worried about how the 4 roles will work out online.
still, when i was playing GC2, i thought they should have more orbital weapons and here they have LOTS more stuff like that.
i ordered a Napalm strike my last game and hard locked my PC... and reading on the official forums, it would appear alot of beta testers are not so happy with the game, so be careful of the preorders.

I played through the mp beta & I love it. roles are split in for infantry/armor/support (AA & artillary / Air (helo's) you get points for killing & capturing strategic points use these to call in special support (light/heavy arti, bunker busters, tank busters, precision bombing, fuel bomb, air to air, nukes, repair vehicles etc...) that's just generalizing but if you play the current demo on skirmish you get an opportunity to try all of this out. It's basicaly what online mp is like.

You have no idea what you're talking about.
And I'm a DX9 user.

Definitely a contender. But will it beat Supreme Commander to the title? No way.

supreme commander is more on the strategic level while world in conflict is on the tactical level. still they're both RTS games so they'll have to compete for the title of RTS of the year.
still, I think they both kick ass and I don't care which one the media thinks is better.

Not sure if yer prediction is gonna be right. Even tho it has garnered a high average review score and was semi popular due to a niche steadfast audience, I think the bigger title will always win(in the major publications anyways). GOTY is about quality, of course, but $$$ always enters into the final decision.
So I predict a close race between CC3 and this title, although there are a few more coming along that are full of promise, so that could change very quickly. All in all it will be a pretty awesome ending of the year for strategy gamers.

Supreme commander & World In Conflict are two totally different kind of RTS games imo. | Of course they are, but I doubt any competition will attemp to distinguish between a real-time tactics game (such as WiC) and real-time strategy game (of which SupCom is a true, and as far as I know only representative.
If I had to chose between the two, I'd definitely pick SupCom.
And yes, I've been a beta tester for WiC, and played the demo. The game sure looks fantastic (not to say SupCom doesn't), but graphics don't make the game, and when you get down to it, Supreme Commander offer better gameplay, and is generally the more revolutionary title.

C&C3? No man, no way. It was a good game in it's own way, but it felt like old C&C games (which is both good and bad). It was good game, but it came out a few years too late, and definitely faces competition which untilmately I feel will prove unsurmountable.
PS
It did have Michael fucking Ironside though.

I you think that, then you never really played the game, or only played it against a weak AI.
Try a 3vs3 MP game, and you will change your opinion.
