|

for people with shader 2.x cards, you can play bioshock with the shader hack from official 2k forum (the hack itself is unofficially made). beta 1 is near perfect on my system (x800).
also, you can use retail files to "enhance" the demo. taken from rlslog:
"it’s possible to use some of the retail files in the demo.
for instance, you can change the main menu to show new game, load, etc instead of demo. but you can’t save even though there is a gui page for it.
some graphics were left out of the demo version. you can “restore” them from the retail copy. this enhances the game a bit.
also the dev/log console will show scripts executing and you can use commands like “open” to open a map. unfortunately, it’s not possible to open anything other than the demo maps. it would seem there is a “lock” placed in the demo exe that prevents loading any level other than the demo ones.
on the bright side, you can enable ‘hard’ mode this way. when you use health it eats up more of your supply. the splicers are much tougher to take down too."
yey! something to do while we wait for real keygen!

Disgraceful. |
Hehehe, certainly correct for some people.
But in my case (I regularly buy my games!) I decided that I won't buy it.
Not because i am to cheap to pay some bucks or because i think the games not worth the money, hell no, i bought alot of games of which i knew it's not really worthwhile, but i wanted to support the developers.
No, i won't buy it because i simply don't support the shit they do with this activation crap and limiting installations (and they may allow 100 installations soon, if i fucking buy something, i want it to be mine, else it's renting...), and I can only hope more people do that. But i know that all the ppl who dont have anything else to do can't wait and will buy it if they haven't already .
But anyways, I dont think that the game stands up to the hype at all, after playing the demo on xbox and pc. For me it's a very well made shooter, but there are enough others out there which I haven't played yet, so I'll wait for a scene release, and if it may come in a few months I'm fine with that.

But about enemies for example, they say you can go back in a previous level and the enemies re spawned as i see it, i wouldn't have been better to get new enemies in there instead and the bodies of those that were dead previously, laying down?

Thats how it does work, it's not a straight up respawn. The dead bodies stay there and when you come back to an area after a long time you'll sometimes find some different enemies wondering around, picking at dead bodies etc. They're not necessarily the same enemies you fought before.
It feels quite authentic, as if the sound of fighting has attracted other scavengers.

Spoiler: | I wonder if the splicers that play dead actually jump up to scare the scavengers looting their bodies? One thing I noticed is this, if you electro bolt one of those suckers they don't get up, because that would blow their "cover" - Instead they cry out and gurgle a bit untill you finish it. |

if you hate the activation shit then buy it off steam. They fixed that in steam since it has it's own measures.

Hey, what is the actual consequence of just saving the little sisters and not harvesting them? I know you get 80 less adam if you save them, but do you actually get anything else if you save the sisters? Or is this a big spoiler?

As far as i know, Steam has the exact same Securom activation just not the disc check, but anyways.....
I am going to hold off on buying this for another couple weeks. Also, there is a lot of other games i want being released in the next few months -- thinking my money might be better spent elsewhere.

Is it worth saving them then or is the stuff you get just ammo, etc?

yes, saving them yeilds the better ending. To be honest theres no difference really between harvesting and saving, everytime you save 3 you get alot of adam as a present anyway.

You don't know what you're talking about, right? How could they take out the whole online activation system of the game "cause it has it's own measures"? SecuROM is still there, man.
Otherwis, we all would be playing cracked steam version long ago.

I bought it off steam. Seems like everyone of us who really wanted it has already purchased.
My question would be: a friend of mine wants to play it and i understand it can only be activated on 2 comps. I want to change some hardware in mine in 2 weeks from now. How can i delete my present day comp from the account and activate the new config?

uninstall it, supposedly that will free up one activation, irrational will be bringing out a "revoke" tool shortly to do the same thing

i dont think ANY of the warez rlses work..you need a legit serial number to activate,no ifs, ands or buts....as for the game working at all.... *my* retail version works a treat

i thought steam activation was handled differently? once u buy it, isnt it tied to ur account regardless of how many installs??

Says on the steam purache page "Note: Contains SecuROM copy control software. Installations limited to five PCs per license". It's just steam on top of normal game.
