Only new things I can see is that now you can control the GK on demand, select which player you want the cross or through ball to go to and... and... er... oh yes, they say they've reworked the defense AI, I read about the improvements on a developer blog.
The one feuture I'm really looking forward to this time is "Be a pro". It's something I feel has been missing in sports games. I know Madden has had it a couple of years, but I'm not a NFL fan.
I will be giving both FIFA and PES a try this year, I liked Konami's old football games on the consoles (SNES in my case) but I never could get into PES3, and it just never worked properly on the PC. This years version looks far more exciting, so I will certainly give it another go. FIFA will likely be very much the same as last year, hopefully some tweaked gameplay atleast, and of course Be a Pro is something that I'm looking forward to.
looks fun, although the camera angle may require a little getting used........ and woohoo, my wish has come true...... they've most definitely improved the commentatory...
demo should be out in a few days..... hope we can have a sample of the 'be a pro' mode in the demo...

In any case, I managed to stomach one match and the gameplay is pretty decent, seems more fluid and less mechanical than the previous games.. A small step to be sure, as Fifa games always are. But definitely one in the right direction.
Worst FIFA ever. I played 06 and 07 for less than 2-3 hours each, this one... I don't think I'll even install it.
And this one half-time demo... they are scared that if we have whole match we won't buy the game.

Its not bad
First time i can play good last years.The game speed isnt so fast anymore (like pinball),passes and controls are more realistic.
ONLY BAD the outdated graphics (same as 07)
But for me the gameplay is good,surely better than previous fifas.
If pro08 has next gen graphics and the same good gameplay will remain by far the best soccer
Just got done playing several matches in this..... the graphics are definitely a dissapointment...
but the game play is kick ass... the new passing system is awesome, you cant stand there anymore and expect the ball to come to you...
need to get a lil used to controlling the goalie..
and the ai is definitely improved a lot.. in 07, i used to be able to beat a 5star team with a 2star.. and not allow them a single shot on goal.. but this time, i'm having a hell of a time trying to score...
although, one thing i find quite annoying, the computers finishing...
They'll have one shot on goal and that would go in.... where as ive had several attempts on goal and they always manage to stop it!
