the DRM doesn't affect the buyer the only one it affects is you because you can't have it for free & your pissed at there security sceme to protect there intellectual property. The original purpose of the scene is to try a software in it's full for a 24 hour period to determine if it's worth buying or not (because demo's give you limited access to a product & isn't the best way to judge if the full product is worth buying). Why do you think the groups always support buying there own software even though they cracked it. Thats the other aspect of the scene to show that what is not crackable is in fact crackable. Just admit it instead of giving some shitty excuse that the DRM is stopping you from buying this product & just say you want it for free even though its a good game.

Dunno what all the fuss about this game is about, played it and thought how basic and done b4 a million times. Linear basic sh!te, even Infernal and FarCry is better than this.

Triggadeath you can go about every situation differently. Doesn't always have to be guns blazing & if you though it wasn't a challenge enough I recommend playing the game on the hardest setting from the get go. There is no way you can go guns blazing. for example " hack a security camera, shoot big daddy throw tracking plasmid (makes turrents & camera's attack the target) & bait him to the camera. Watch the fight unfold in front of you or focus on other targets if there are multiple ones. This just goes to show how much depth was put into the confrontations in this game. On top of that there was alot of back & forth in the levels & you can go off path to explore other areas even though you will probably end up going there during the course of the story. But there is alot more freedom of choice in this game then you make it out to be with your 2 lines of useless comments.

Got it to work on XP. But I am getting "side by side" error on Vista. Using onehitwonder and crack. Any ideas?

I mean by itself. it doesnt have a working crack.
the guy was asking which release to get so obviously getting one that doesnt work without getting a crack from somewhere else is not as good as getting a release that works on its own.

for one, I do have the game for free. Two, many customers on the 2K forum are affected, I've even seen posts on their own forum stating that customer support said they would hang up on them. And I honestly doubt this was the purpose of the scene. Maybe a stated purpose, but not the real one. A good example is XP, you get the full version for 30 days so there is no need for a 24 hour scene release, yet there was. So the 24 hour thing you stated is an obvious hoax.

Too much hassle to make this game work with the crack.
Here's what i've done:
1. Mount OHW image in DT 4.09 or superior
2. Install the game
3. When appears an error saying that the disc is not original, don't click anything!
4. Copy the folder where the game is being installed Program Files\2Kgames\.... to another location, C:\ for example
5. Go to the error message and clic Cancel (i did cancel and not Retry)
6. Download the "Scenepwned" crack that is password protected.
6. Copy Bioshock.exe and Paul.dll to \2K Games\BioShock\Builds\Release (where you copied)
7. Run secu.eg.reg to add the registry keys
8. Run the game (with OHW image mounted)
This works in Windows Vista 32 bits. Note that i haven't used any mini maxi image or some other crap...

Get the LolCats release. Got it myself, then used the ScenePwned release and it worked great.

Omega if you read nfo's from back in the 90's it is stated in them. Probably befor you ever got your twinky wet in the scene. On top of that I ran my own fxp group in the late 90's so (armaggedon fxp for those who might remember) so I know what im talking about.

I don't need it. It works perfect with OHW release and doing that steps.

True, it has been done before but not with this kind of ambient. Though i think too that it's not that great that justifies the hardon but ok....

What you have to understand is that you will (almost) only see the whiners on the forums and not the thousands of player who never had problems..
I highly doubt the purpose of the scene is to ruin it for publishers/developers on PC, it's just like Ace170780 said..

Play it for the story, it's really good. There's hardly anything that can be improved or invented in gameplay terms anymore, everything has been done before. So what is left is how good the story is, and how well it plays. Both are excellent.
And FarCry better than BioShock?

roflmao
btw you know that the most ex scene member works now in a developer studios or copy protection studios
not the scene ruin the publisher , the internet ( p2p and the another crap ) does this!
and btw the developer see 0 cent from the seeling copie! the publisher pay the developer , when he becomes the game . the money from all salled copies become the publisher. and not the developer push drm and copy protection in the product, the publisher does this ( the ironie from capitalism )

Not entirely true. Contracts sometimes contain percentage of total sales, so they do get some shares of sales.

I can think of a many things.. especially for RPG/FPS'es..
BioShock is cool but it really lacks some things from other shooters, the enemies are the same throughout the whole game (worst variation i've seen ever in a game since problaby the C64 or something heh).
The level design / art direction is awesome. But they (obviously) have the same kind of theme (dark underwater city with lots of water everywhere) throughout the whole game, so it doesnt get very varied here either.. The game has lots and lots of water everywhere but you cant swim(!) There's no leaning, so sneaky gameplay isnt as good as it could've been. Dying in the game is like a reward because if you're out of EVE or health you can just die to get new.
First part(s) of the game is 9.5/10, rest a 6 or 7/10, imo. Last level(s) are very weak. Still worth buying but not really GOTY material imo, perhaps after a few patches or with a SDK..

To any person that have problems installing the game.
Alternative method:
1. Mount any good image in DT 4.10 and make sure you have a working internet connection
2. Download a mini image from GCW (the third worked flawlessly for me)
2. Enable all emulations in DT
3. Set number of devices to two
4. Mount the mini image on one of the virtual devices
5. Mount the ISO (or mdf/mds) on the remaining virtual device
6. Install the game from the ISO (or mdf/mds)
7. No error will appear (because of DT and mini image bypassing Securom), and the installer will download the remaining files.
8. Use the downloaded crack (make a search on any torrent site) copying Bioshock.exe and Paul.dll to \INSTALL_DIR\Builds\Release (where you installed the game)
9. Run secu.eg.reg to add the registry keys and unmount from DT
10. Run the game
This worked 100% for me on Windows XP
