bumping this question since my subtitles also run too fast and wondering if anybody know how to fix it.

also.. i've posted this problem before but lost the post in the abundance of bioshock posts so i'll ask again.

my mouse sensitivity is too high even when sliding it all the way down... there was a way to force a lower sensitivy by fiddling with the ini file methinks.. can anyone tell me what to do?

thx.

Apparently it's not fixable since the Xbox 360 version suffers from the same problem. (That's what I've been told anyways).

A question for the SM3.0 guys : Do you also get these weird looking 256 colors like textures in dark spots? Or does it only happen in SM2.0 systems?

I see no such banding with my game. I guess it's a problem with the shader hack.

Get a new card.

grr no matter what i try, anti-aliasing will not work right at ALL... which sucks because everyone else seems to be able to use it just fine... whenever i enable it, i DO get anti-aliasing, but all the windows and volumetric lights get this really weird ass messed up graphical glitch. ive tried different methods of enabling aa, and multiple degrees of aa, but its always the same crap... sucks that it works for everyone else not me

i know its a unreal engine issue, but why would they purposely make a fucking engine that couldnt enable aa on xp and dx9? did they think that only 20-30 people on the planet were not using vista with an 8800 card or something?

im downloading the latest stable nvidia xp drivers... maybe something will magically be different and aa will work... but i doubt it Sad

heres a pic of the issue im getting... anti-aliasing enabled on the left, and without on the right - i upped the brightness so you could see what the issue was more clearly. you can see the messed up texture on the window, which looks like an oversized reflection of whats in the room (is it a reflection map? doesnt look like it but i dunno what the hell it is)

sucks because the game looks much nicer with aa enabled Sad

K. I'll try here.

I got the Lolcat iso. Installed with newest daemon tools.

Found the scenepwoned.crac (or bypass).
Moved the proper files over from the crack overwritting old ones.

ran the .reg file.

run the game and it gives me an instant error saying 'This program can not run because it is not configured properly. IUninstalling and reinstalling my fix the probelm (paraphrased)."

Uninstalled and reinstalld 2x now to 2 different directories. Same problem. Display drivers are up to date.

E6600 3.3 ghz, 2 gigs of corsair dominator ram, gforce 8800gtx grpahics card.

So, I'm the only one having this problem?

Installed the c++ 2005 runtimes ? *idiots*

Just in case someone wants to know, since i read many posts about vista issues:

I play on Vista with DX10 stuff enabled amd all options maxed out @1280x??? and the game runs smooth as hell!

C2D 1.8Ghz
2 GB RAM
Geforce 8600GTS

Made a dual boot for Vista games Razz
I still work at XP.
But gaming at Vista doesn't slow down the games that much.
To be honest, i noticed that only the loading takes a but longer (2-3 secs).

I'm having your exact same problems. ALso, when I try to set widescreen (running vista), it kicks me back out to windows.. says bioshock is still running, but I can never alt-tab back into it, I have to shut it down in task manager. allll the time.

Is a 8500GT a LOT slower of a card than an 8600 or 8800 series? I'm playing on my media center PC which has that card.

Man, I'm not trying to be rude or a dick. How about you give up on the AA and just play the game for awhile Smile

because i like aa. i bought this damn 8800 gtx so i could play games with all the extras enabled... all features... make games look the best they can... its like saying why watch a movie in colour... black and white is good enough...

but yeah looks like ill have to play without aa... i can turn the resolution up high enough that its not too noticable... really glad i decided to save the cash for tf2 now thats for sure. hehe, bet THAT game has aa Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

the crappy thing is, i know the exact same thing is going to happen when the new unreal tourney game gets released... that ones going to be without aa as well, which is a bummer because that game would have looked fricken sweet with it.

nah, thats more like not buying a DVD because it does not have a Anamorphic transfer...

high levels of AA and shadows still are quirky features in games, i wish more developers would just focus on gameplay elements than this crap. i was playing System Shock 2 last night and it has neither feature but damn, still a great, moody game!

yeah but the stupid thing is ss2 could probably handle aa if you enable it in your cards settings... bioshock, it seems, cant even do that.

i thought i left aliasing in pc games far behind me a LONG time ago... back when i bought a 1.7ghz machine 6 years ago.

i put together a high end system so i could enjoy visuals to their absolute fullest. its like buying a ps3 but the graphics still look like that of a ps2... wouldnt you feel unimpressed and underwhelmed? i know i do. antialiasing is the most basic of things modern graphics cards can provide for games, we have been enjoying it and have come to EXPECT it for a decade now, and i think its one of the most fundamentally important and necessary features for visuals in modern games... that bioshocks developers thought it irrelivant and unimportant and didnt want to impliment it, is insane.

lolcats is apparently the one to get, but i grabbed an untouched misc iso and it worked as well... so yeah lolcats is what you should get if you can, but pretty much any release will work as long as you use the ind crack for it.

You need to learn to read and untick those "Free Games Offers" (that is Half Life 2 DM & Lost Coast, that's why you get steam) and "Earthsim" (some useless screen saver).

The 9800 pro is Shader 2.0. You will be able to run it on low settings i guess and with the Shader 2.0 fix..... GL/HF try to get a new card....

i bet atleast crytek could make a game that could handle anti-aliasing, 2k Very Happy

Bioshock use Unreal3 engine, and I doubt they spend hours modifying the already-near perfect renderer code. They paid for the engine and developed a game, hence gameplay code with it. If AA is not available in Unreal3 I doubt that's because Eidos is not able to "handle" it, but more that they use the resource to do other things with it instead.

2k bought the damage. what they do with it and the ultimate result is down to them. but i guess we'll see... gears of war, stranglehold, and some other important games are coming up using u3 engine... we'll see how well and if those games handle anti-aliasing before we assign blame i guess.

but seriously... how good can an engine be if it cant handle anti-aliasing... something weve had since before we discovered fire for crying out loud....
