can it be used without pc?

i wan't to connect 360 to S/PDIF optical and use 5.1 speakers

this one in particular



i don't want anything expensive just something i can connect without using pc

or do i have to use amplifier?

looks like it'd work just fine. if you get the logitech x-series they come with a little adapter you can plug the sound male connector into right into the 5.1

so in other words u not realy sure

logitech is a bit pricey and not easy to find in local shops [unable to order via inet]
i'm not sound freak i just need it to work

About that box ya I'm not sure. I just figured you were trying to get like..pc sound speakers to work without a PC.

The x series is dirt cheap and sound decent too (a lil too much bass but it's cool when cranked lol)

[edit] Seems they went up a step to the x540 (the ones I showed you were the x530) so I w ould get the 540's if I were you. Their cheap Razz

i have old but still working logitech 5.1 set i just need to output 360 through optical to see quality difference, most of the time i use headphones but when no one around i crank up with 2.1 only

ooooo okey, didn't catch on to that optical part. (fixed link btw)

Optical really does sound a lot better but you need a pretty good sound system to hear it.
