also just remember.. u will *Never* be able to play a cracked version online.. (Unless they release a cracked server patch.. and then u can only play on cracked servers..)

You can play on legit servers with the cracked copy. There is a method to play, but if I post it I'd get banned.

Maybe you should read nfo... cracked server is already there for WIN32.
Linux is not workin in there for more than one person, but someone tells me it will be out later today to work.
And yes there are dumb methods to get it working online, but if you are that desparate go buy it ;P

The method takes 3 minutes to do. It isn't hard or anything.

That method doesent work for me. When i try to launch the game it launches the steam engine but then i get an error saying bad launch configuration. Any ideas?

The online play patch works like a charm. First time playing CS and its pretty good but teammates can get in your way alot and end up getting you shot to hell... also would like to see a lean key.

I cant get it to run at all using the patch released by EMPORiO. Now i'm getting an error saying that "the steam service is not running". If i rename the steam.dll it launches the game, but does not pass validation on steam servers.

Read the NFO first. After extracting the files to your CSS dir you must download steam and create a brand new account then edit "steamapp.cfg" and tell it your username, password, and the path to the CS Source dir.

Lots of newcomers posting in these threads. Valve emplyees? Wouldn't surprise me since there's so god damn many that keep whining about how HL2 and or CSS is a game you just have to buy. What's with the sudden boost of morale anyway?
I'm not buying anything until I get to try it, for free, and I doubt it'll be good enough to be worth the money (CSS I'm sure won't, for me, still unsure about HL2).

Well i dont need to download STEAM to play, i start the game, refresh the list of servers and find the ones who runs the cracked CS:S...i got 8 servers in my favorites so far.
