Reloaded Studios Chooses CryENGINE 2
“Our technology team carefully reviewed and analyzed both the features and limitations of all of the major game engines and middleware solutions which are currently available to license, before making our choice.” says Ki-Yong Cho, Chief Executive Officer of Reloaded Studios. “No other engine came close to offering the dynamic features, developer friendly tools, or provided anything near the visual quality of the CryENGINE 2. We felt it was extremely important when our game is eventually released that it will still be able to stand apart from all other titles, either currently existing or presently in development, in what is now already a very competitive market. We felt only the CryENGINE 2 could support the dynamic content and massive landscapes we intend to build, let alone do justice to the unique art style we plan on bringing to our MMO. Licensing the CryENGINE 2 was an obvious and unanimous choice.”...

if they let the mp beta for free then they would make no $$$$ income before release , its all about money , i guess they just wanted to pump somehting out to see what revenue it brings in before the actual full game

And who will pay for servers? You ? Do you have any idea how many people wanna try this game? 1 mill atleast. So you get 1m people trying to download game and then go online. Think little outside youre box. Btw i dont think Fileplanet is paying Crytek for anything. I guess you didnt see what happend when Quake wars beta was launched. We managed to crash FP serv with reloading. When people actually got the beta key, download speed for game was like 10kbs, and when you installed it and tryed playing all servs were full. -_-

dx9 MP vs dx10 MP

As for the DX9 version we won’t have physics and day and night cycle in-game. That means you won’t be able to shoot down trees and/or alter any other objects than vehicles on the map. Additionally the time of day setting doesn’t change dynamically. This is caused due to the tremendous server load such physics might cause on crowded gaming servers. Still you will be able to experience maps with different time of day settings since the maps can be altered in the Sandbox2 Editor.

Rather than providing the community partially working features we limit this for the DX10 version only. Due to the strong hardware available with DX10, server load is less and performance is increased. This ensures the pure physics and day and night cycle experience without any limitation.

Gamers with a DX10 card are able to play on DX9 servers, but with the limitation of the respective server. Vice versa it is not possible for gamers with DX9 cards to play on DX10 servers due to the limited features.

too bad for you dx9 ppl

you might think that more people = more bug finding but that's not necessarily the case.
just imagine a no-limit open beta of crysis.
everyone would go and get it, then about 200 thousand idiots would have some weird problems with the game and spam the forums with useless crap and it would be impossible to filter out the important stuff. if you only have a few thousand beta testers it's a much more controlled environment and that is what they need to test what they want to test.
it's absolutely normal.

don't hold your breath. I seriously doubt it's even possible to *crack* this.
I can't think of any game where an online key protection was cracked, other than using a cracked server which is useless here as far as I know as players can't create their own servers I think.

I mean.. sure, it's most likely possible to get the game to show you the main menu, but playing without a legit key? it won't happen.

you should also list quake because its the greatest game ever f**king made... its mankinds one single redeeming feature, and possibly the only thing that can balance the creation of paris hilton and uwe boll...

(i see youve listed quake games, but quake should be listed by itself... and in red... and in bold...)

Yup, the music was shit, but I turned off the volume. Anyway, people claim that its very well optimized, so I'm happy now, because it will run pretty good on shit old hardware until you upgrade and it will run even better, but with better gfx. I hope they wont screw up with copy protection like 2kgames did. gg.

Whoa! Just watched the video and I really must say: AWESOME stuff!
Never saw this good gfx and animations. Now only the story and gameplay must be right.
Crytek ftw! Smile

And music must have been a "Trivium" song. Don't know which. But was good too!

I hope it's properly mod'able so we'll see a lot of mods, half-life style, that will keep this game interesting for years.

the great graphics will only keep you interested for so long.

Aside from the "SandBox 2" editor it's possible to open the .Pak files with Winrar, atleast the beta works that way, seems to be standard lua scripts with FMOD sound files and DDS textures, unsure what the models use but the textures are quite detailed. (Scripts are also rather easy to modify from what I gathered after opening a few lua files.)

There's also several CFG files in the config directory to tweak things like the difficulty and such. Smile
