It seems RTS games ain't your thing.

Oh yes they are not. What the frig is this Strangehold then? never heard of it.
I did like C&C effort Red Alert, and total annilation, Kingdoms and Sudden Strike plus a few others but most RTS these days follows the C&C formula which I am not keen.

					| Its much better than Ground Control. This game is fantastic.
Although I'm scrating my head as how they got trucks in when they're pulling the civi's out. Maybe they abseiled from the choppers.

					| I'll give you a mini-review
Played for about three hours, about umm 5 or 6 missions.

The first and obvious thing, the graphics are just amazing. If you want a game that defines next-gen, this is one of them. Zoomed in or during the ingame cutscenes the graphics easily outshines fps-games less than a year old.

The terrain is highly interactive - buildings can be used as cover for infantry, whole towns can be demolished by artillery and forrests where enemy infantry is hiding can be reduced to smoldering ashes by napalm strikes.

And what you destroy, stays destroyed. The beginning of a map can be a town with a beach and outlying tree-areas and at the end half of the towns buildings might be rubble, forrests are nothing but burning firewood and on the beach burning metal skeletons and craters are all that is left.

The gameplay itself is extremely high paced for a RTS, nothing like that of C&C for example, much more like Company of Heroes. It feels and plays alot more like a "warsimulator" than a classic RTS if you ask me.

Even though it's set in a fictive 1989 all the units for russia and USA are real and actual tactics work. There are some aspectsthat ups the pace but diminishes realism, call them arcade if you will, such as repair-units fixing a busted tank in 10 seconds. Works for me.

For me, this IS the overall best RTS i have played. It is very different from the classic basebuilder-RTS but that is also what makes it shine in my eyes. If I had to compare it to any other games Company of Heroes, Faces of War and Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 are the ones that comes somewhat close gameplay wise.

An easy 9/10. If the rest of the campaign plays out as it has begun and if multiplayer is good, it's probably a 10/10.

The FLT release works, yes. Pryocon probably works too but you'll need to find/make a MDS-file. But thats like, um, too much work hehe, just get the FLT release
