Why, oh why had KONAMI had to put Depth Of Field in the game. It's implemented fucking poorly in FIFA (any replay that's not a close-up is blurred to death and you can't see anything), but they had to put it in PES too?

Nope, didn't notice it much in PES6. If it was implemented correctly then I rest my case, I must've been blinded by FIFA. I'm just worrying because of some of the screenshots I'm seeing around. In action it may look just as good as PES6.

I just tried searching the registry but no luck... Not sure what to tell you. Update your video drivers maybe? | I found a way. It works only on Medium settings. On High the max. resolution I can choose is 1024. My CPU it's an X2 4600+, 2GB and 8600GT 256MB with 163.71 beta. I also tried with 163.64 beta. Win is XP Pro SP2.
Maybe High+1280x1024 is available only on 512MB video cards ?

Well i downloaded it, here's my thoughts.
1. It's not a PS2 port cause of all the gfx & controller settings, which shows x360 controller. Plus Ps2 hasn't even close the power to handle those gfx.
2. Gameplay is better, sharper.
3. I'm on 8800GTX, 1600:1200, High settings, almost no fps drop during "replay", drops from 60 to like 58-60 for a sec. My friend has Ati 850xt, and it drops to 40 for him, but still fine.
4. Like the new menu, music, settings etc.
But i think AA is implemented poorly (or not at all in the demo).
Game could use better shadows.
There is no visible grass on the field. I presume there won't be on pc at all.
It looks like demo is only single player with 1 controller or keyboard. Not 100% sure, but looks that way.
Overall it's a big improvement over PC Pes06, but i expected more.
Found a bug after only 1 game.
Goalkeeper, while trying to catch a ball, jumps & gets stuck.
If Konami keeps to their stupid idea not to release any patches we are in trouble, cause i suspect there are lotsa more bug reports to follow.

Well, I can only hope PES 2008 is better than PES 6 and won't be bugged, because after 10 minutes of playing FIFA 08 I'm already tired of it.
If PES 2008 is bugged, I'd still go back to PES 6.
EDIT: *sigh* Just started downloading from GH and the speed is ridiculously low...

Look at the screens on previous page, it's not really grass, it's just detailed painted picture.

The grass is visable, the viewpoint just doesn't let you see it very well. It's fuzzy and 3D looking.

Sorry but i don't care about single player and cutscenes + every long shot goes in you can just fill the bar up and it doesn't go over.

The AI effects multiplayer. Unless you play with 22 people (which unfortunately isn't possible).
The cutscenes can be made into normal gameplay graphics as they were with previous versions of PES on the PC, whilst every long shot does not go in.
I'm not saying this is the best PES ever, I am on the fence.

PES 2008 On PC To Support Network LAN
Thanks to Till Bosten for forwarding me this information. A Konami representative has promised during a livestream of a German Internet Programme that PES 2008 will feature Network LAN features on the PC version. This will mark the introduction of the next-gen engine and LAN features to the series. This maybe shaping up to be the best PES yet for PC players.
The thought of 11 vs. 11 makes me dream!
Stay tuned for confirmation and more info on this topic as it comes.

The game it self runs perfect (60 fps) on my machine (AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, 2GB RAM, X1950GT) but the stuttering of the cutscenes is terrible. Anyone the same problem?
And gamepad only supports 8 directions. Not so good I thing! I hoped they would change ist, but unfortunately not. But in comparison to FIFA 08 the game kicks ass.

Downloaded the demo today, and I have to say it's kind of funny. PES 3 (that was the first PC version right?) didn't work good at all on my PC. PES 2008 is supposed to be NG, and my GFX card (ATI X700SE) isn't even supposed to be supported if the system specs are true and complete, yet PES has never ran smoother on my 2 year old machine.
Not overly impressed, haven't played PES for a few years now. Things I really like though are the player animations when they are tackled, the respons from players and refs. Unlike FIFA here refs give cards "in play", it's not it's own animation, it gives the game a proper flow and truer feeling to it, and freekicks can be taken fast...again "in play", the player just touches the ball and kicks it away again. Nice! The graphics are superb, smooth players and they look like the real thing. However during play, NG or CG...doesn't matter. The ball physics are much better than on FIFA as far as I can see, as well as shooting. But there is where the real football feeling fades away for me.
Like FIFA the players feel heavy and blocky. When ever I make a turn it looks like the player is skating, he flies on the pitch more or less whenever I turn the player. Their running looks so stupid, in a way funny though. What difficulty level is the demo on btw? I managed to run from my defence and score without any of the other teams players trying to stop me. The tempo is way to high on the game, gives too much arcady feeling to the game, something FIFA has tried to tone down this year to some success.
Overall I thought the demo was okay, but after reading how superb PES 2008 would be, I'm actually let down. Still, I will certainly give the full game a good go too.
