Game is awesome, loads of freedom, and while I think the city seems a little small, I guess it's because I haven't unlocked much in Career mode, however, the "small" areas you have to begin with are pretty damn big, with loads of hidden spots to uncover. An example:
I was skating around downtown just for kicks when I suddenly saw another skater go into a backalley, I figured, why not follow, see what the hell he's doing, after following him and his crappy skating, I found a tunnel system, connected to a dam-like structure. I skated all the way through the tunnel system (upwards). Then when I reached the top, I went down again, and that was awesome.
So, tunnels + gaps + AWESOME gap in the end, I almost did a double backflip, I was just to late with the timing, i'll try it later today again.
Anyway, graphics are absolutely on par, and the camera angle you skate in is awesome in my opinion, it's so much easier to time your grinds and stuff with that angle, compared to tony hawks.
"Quests" are fun, no boring ones yet, and some are pretty challenging, but once you get the timing and routines in, you own them. However, just as you owned one quest, you'll completely fail the next one, the game is full of challenge.
Another great thing is finding hidden spots, that you can "Own", by completing a hard manuevre, i've only found one, and I suspect every hidden spot has security running all over the place, this one had it, if they catch you they'll beat you down and take some of your money and they are real fast.
In the spot I found, I was to first grind down walkway, then ollie/nollie over a gap to another grind and finish off by doing another ollie/nollie over another gap that I had to grind through as well. Don't get me wrong here, you don't have to do a ollie or a nollie, you just have to get across the gap without touching the ground. Feel free to do any trick, unless specified otherwise.
Not only that but you also had to reach a certain amount of points while doing that line (that set of tricks).
After 20 minutes of trying, I managed to do it and it felt great.
Game owns, one of the best games on the 360!
*Edit: Bigbasher, I burnt it flawless on first try with TDK media on a Pioneer 111d with the Skate.PAL.XBOX360-LCS release. Don't think there is a problem with the image. But i'm not an expert. Try another media if it doesn't work when you try it again. This game is worth the media.
*Edit 2: Just found another spot, this one a lot harder, I had to get 400 points in my line, and I was to do my tricks over a stairway by launching myself from a pipe, fucking hard I'll tell you. It took me 30 minutes to get this down, but I learnt how to do proper airs now.
Used to be Yondaime but forgot pass and what email I used on it. Doh. I had ~1200 posts or something, been around since NForce started or so, so i'm no new guy.

Heh that's an awesome video. I have one where I got hit by a car and smacked into a signpost and my body went sliding clockwise down the post till it hit the ground. The ragdoll system in this game cannot be beat. Even going spectator on spot matches is pretty hilarious, watching ppl wipe out in crazy and retarded ways.
But I've kinda reached a point where progressing has become really frustrating so might give it a break or something. Wish there were more challenges to choose from once you go pro and get most of the sponsors. Right now I either have to beat one impossible pro in the game of SKATE(the one after hasalm) or do photo/films that all require manuals before and after tricks. Or get insane points in no-skate zones. So yeah I'm stumped.

I really loved the demo for this game, but playing the full version, I really dont like it. I think its the camera, unchangeable, irritates me. As for manual to fliptrick you need to hold down the right analog stick not quite all the way so he manuals, then move the stick up and to the left or right.

what a frustrating game this is...
I've been trying for an hour to gap to the street and perform 1 manual for a photo but It never works... They should have made it more clear what to do cause it's not always clear

I'm really disappointed with this game
I had high expectations to enjoy this, but after hitting restart on a challenge for like 100 times, it came to my mind that it's not a fun thing to do!
Done with this one! and no games to play now...bahhhh
lol
next good one should be PGR4...

perhaps any of you pro SKATE players can help me out :
i did a bunch of pro challenges: at the first one .. a menu popped up where i could choose a sponsor for 1 thing (i took deck)
now, i did some more pro challenges .. but there was no menu popping up, i looked everywhere but could find it.
when/where do i get the other sponsors? did i already unlock them / where can i select them?

if theres nothing for you to do on the map, go to a shop and you should have to pick ur next sponsor, the board sponsor at the beginning is the only one u have to do the little unlocking challenges for.
i seem to have nearly completed this game in all of 2 days :/
