Unreal! This sounds like a great game! I never played the 360 version.

Brumak! Sweet! Jurassic Proportions!

Thanks for that,

MD

I have the uncut 360 Version here and playd it much in Singleplayer and via XBOX Live. This Game rocks. Like the Scenario. But in July my XBOX 360 have a RING OF DEATH! LOL...shot consoles. I go back to PS2 and play my FAVORITE GAME if ALL TIME: God of War 1 +2

But Gears of War on PC will rock too...i buy it.

Yeah, God of War was another game I was drooling over big time! I wish they would bring it to the PC. I wish, I wish they would come out with Heavenly Sword on the PC. PS3, WTF! That console is barely alive! HS will bring much needed life to the PS3 but would like to see it on the PC at high resolutions.

i bet you this game will instantly get automatic 9's and 10's out of 10 on review sites, just like bioshock did...

but hopefully this game will be decent... did look great on the xbox, so should be fun.

It was a solid cover shooter with fun multiplayer and co-op play.

Epic's also yet to release a game that hasn't done well. Even Jazz Jackrabbit was awesome.

the 360 is like an underpowered pc... just like a gameboy is an underpowered psp... what works on one, will work on the vastly superior product.

its just a question of how well the graphics hold up and if the gameplay is the same, really.

Still rather see Unreal 3 sooner rather then later. GoW was okay on the 360 though, guess it's worth another play-through for the PC version with it's extra content.

either that montage was for the xbox version, or the guy playing is a console retard with autoaim on full power!!

visuals look good and the gameplay from the vid LOOKS fun, but it remains to be seen if it FEELS full and epic (no thats not a pun) or if its just a 'go to this stage, clear it to move one' arcade game like stranglehold was, which takes away from the overall atmosphere and feeling of the game...

I enjoyed it alot on the 360. Was a cool game with nice atmosphere and it was/is great in coop.

But what I meant was that I'm having trouble seeing the particular gameplay work well on a PC. The whole press A to run/cover/dive/emerge wont be quite as entertaining on a PC and at least for me part of the challenge was playing a FPS with console-controls. On a PC you'll just blast through it all. But wtf i dunno, they might pull it of awesomely.

well console gamers all love autoaim. im sure if theres the ability to turn it off in this game, it'll be more challenging.. as for the gameplay, i dont think there'll be too much lost in the conversion.

Control Freaks

Of course, when using an Xbox 360 controller for Windows, the game feels virtually identical to the Xbox 360 version. However, rather than relying wholly on the gamepad to deliver the authentic Gears experience, Epic has taken us keyboard and mouse users into full account. The "A for All" setup of the Xbox 360 version--which allowed users to dive, run, and enter cover using only the "A" button--has been converted into a "Spacebar or Double-tap WASD for All" option. It's not nearly as complicated as that sounds.

For instance, double tapping the "D" key will send you diving to the right, while a single tap of the spacebar while holding "D" will do the same. I found a combination of both controls to be optimal, as did some of the Epic crew. Double-tapping "W" put my character into the crouched hustle, followed by a simple tap of the spacebar to slide into cover. This feels almost as natural--if not moreso--than the Xbox 360 version, and takes only a minute of practice to warm up to.

In an interesting bit of programming, the game's tooltips will actually change on the fly depending on the current control input. This brings up another elegant solution. To counteract the increased accuracy of the mouse--which very well could have ruined the challenge of the game, let alone the multiplayer balance--Epic has in turn increased the weapon recoil for mouse users, applied automatically upon detection of input.

In fact, at one point I was playing with an Xbox 360 controller in one hand and a mouse in the other, the recoil changing in real-time. The Epic developers had earlier remarked that there should be a special achievement for doing so. "Control Freaks," quipped Epic's Cliff Bleszinski, always ready with the witty achievement titles.

Though the game won't accept simultaneous input from both, you can move with the controller, stop, aim with the mouse, and fire on either. Performing a test-fire with the mouse steadied at one point on a wall sent a spray of bullets straight up to the sky. Seconds later, firing at that same spot with an Xbox 360 controller created an impact smear measuring only a few feet in length. Some serious tweaking has certainly taken place, and while it's not enough to annoy, it is enough to make a difference in balancing the gameplay for the laser-accurate PC crowd.

Extra recoil obviously won't be much of an issue if your target dies with the first shot, so another hindrance had to be devised for sniper rifles. To partly solve this issue, players who take damage while attempting to snipe will now have their aim affected. As compared to the rock-solid shooting arm of the 360 version, you'll now have to be a bit more careful, and a good deal faster, when sniping at players from afar.

Despite the added kick-back, playing Gears on the PC is an altogether freeing in comparison with the original. After a few hours with the game, I much preferred the PC controls. Quickly moving on the diagonal, snapping from enemy to enemy, and switching weapons with a click of the mouse wheel was all too easy, but in a good way. Plowing through the new singleplayer content, it really did feel like a fresh experience.

spose that goes to show just how simplistic the minds and skills of console gamers are, if they have to ramp up the difficulty on the pc version to massive heights, just to make the challenge as difficult for us, as it was for the drooling console players with their 'just get the aiming target roughly in the right third of the screen' autoaiming crap, and their retarded enemy ai...

rather than doing stupid shit like messing with the recoil, why not.. gee.. i dunno... make enemies that dont just walk in a straight line, and make them use cover half way decently etc... but then it wouldnt be a console game would it Rolling Eyes

thats pretty lazy work from the devs, lets be honest... spending time adding in handicaps rather than tweaking enemy difficulty.... one good thing i spose, is the enemy ai DOES stay the same, and seeing as its console ai for the console breed of gamers, so standing still means you wont get hit too often! Very Happy

aw it's so disappointing to hear that they are nerfing PC gamers... Sad it's going to be like Shadow Run.. lol

I guess PC gamers just want to play console gamers on a leveled playing field and show how good m/kb is, but it wouldn't make much sense for console devs to alienate their console fans...

I hope someone makes a hack that disables the +recoil... Very Happy

well you have to realise that these are console gamers working on the game... and so they arent used to dealing with things like aim, ai, and recoil (or probably splash damage either, come to think of it Very Happy), so 'massive' recoil to them, is the equivilent to less than what we experience in counter-strike or something, so we'll hardly even notice it now that i think about it... all this recoil handicapping bullshit is about, is demonstrating just how simple console games are, and epics desire to take shortcuts and increase difficulty in the easiest and fastest way.

and i dont think they are alienating console fans, because this is for pc gamers, not console gamers. they allready have their autoaiming low ai simplified version... plus, the pc version will also automatically switch over to the same level of simplicity as the console version does as soon as you start using the simplepad, so alienating console tards doesnt really come into it...

Just shows how smallminded pathetic little people like you are...

So basicly you are saying about ALL console gamers, and I quote " that goes to show just how simplistic the minds and skills of console gamers are,.."

worst is I'll bet you're one of those silly little CS players who are always talking about the realism while bunnyhoppin' and complaining about someone better then you that they are cheating...

I've been a PC gamer almost 20 years now and I'll always love playing a more realistic FPS shooter like SWAT on the PC but a console can be alot of fun to, and playing a console doesn't neccesarely make you a retard.

nope id never call cs realistic, but atleast it doesnt have autoaim like what your kind uses Very Happy i never said consoles couldnt be fun, but they are definately dumbed down thats for sure... im not saying all console gamers are retards, but generally consoles are aimed at kids and teens with short attention spans and little patience for challenge...

why else would epic feel the need to beef up its game just to make it a half way decent challenge for pc gamers?

GoW is primarily a third person action adventure type game with heavy FPS elements. It's gameplay is tight and small maps (on the 360 at least) make for some fast games on link up and live.

Make no mistake about it it's not about dumbing down the controls, i'm thankful console games have the option of auto aim in many shooter games. Seeing as theres no keyboard/mouse setup.

well thats pretty much my point right there...

console games ARE simplified with massive heavy use of autoaiming, because the controllers arent suited to fps gaming...

and as you said, your glad games have autoaim, because its hard to aim precisely which takes practice... again, like i said, GENERALLY (and this isnt against you personally) most console gamers dont really want to spend effort being accurate, they just want run and gun fun, which is what the consoles are suited for... fun, easy, enjoyable arcade experiences.

there are SOME people who do practice and are very good at playing games with controllers on their consoles, they are very accurate and would no doubt kick my ass at a fps game, if i was on a pc, and they could link their console up to my pc for some dm, but the fact remains, MOST console gamers, just want simple easy arcade games that they can dive right into,

...which is why things like this happen, with gow having to have attributes like recoil tweaked to make the game more challenging for those who game on the pc....

if it was NOT the case that console games were simplified and dumbed down for consoles, simply turning OFF autoaim, would mean an equal playing field for pc and console gamers...
