Hey`all!

Didn`t bother to make a new topic about my problem so I thought I`d use the old one. My game isn`t exactly "crashing" but the problem is with the controls and the settings.

For instance, the launch-program(the proggy where you decide the resolution and get to nimble with the controls)won`t save the changes when I quit the program. Next problem is a little big harder one. I can`t control the game at all. My keyboard won`t work and neither my Logitech Dual Action - pad. The game boots up fine, but I can`t skip the intromovies and when in the main selection screen, I can`t do nothing but to Alt+F4 out of the program. Any1 else had this weird problem?

System specs soon to be seen in my sig.

Im having the same control problem. When I change the settings in the setup, eg. like pick my Res and setup controls, then I hit save and quit. It doesnt save. When I go into the game I have no controls at all, no keyboard no Sidewinder. Nothing!! If I set it to default, same thing no controls at all. I have to Ctrl Alt Del to exit the game. Anybody have a fix for this?

I FINALLY figured this out. For some reason, for a few us the registry keys that the game uses to store settings are set to read only permissions, so these settings can never be set or saved. Open regedit and navigate to HKCU\Software\Activision. Right click on the Activision key and choose Permissions. Choose your account or group (probably Administrators) and check the allow checkbox for Full Control. Click Advanced, check "Replace permission entries on all child objects," click OK twice and exit regedit.

Well it makes alot of sense about some files being set to Read Only. Can you please the complete path to the reg file, as I dont see it anywhere.

It's in the registry. Click Start, Run, type regedit, and press enter. Then start with HKEY_CURRENT_USER and follow the instructions I gave from there.

I finally got it figured out. Thanks for your help Kalvascorp. You must be running XP man, cause there is no option in Win2k when you right click on Activision reg or any reg file to enable permissions. Anytime I try to put any reg settings in that folder it would give me the cannot write error. So I found a walk around, My current user on WIN2k eg.(Joe) is supposed to be administrator will all rights and permissions. So I logged off Joe and logged on as the default Administrator then I reinstalled the game and it worked fine. For some reason under my other Admin user it wouldnt write those reg files needed for the controls. Damn Windows! grrr! Hope this helps some of you that have the similar problem.

Ah, sorry. If anyone else is running Windows 2000 they need to use regedt32 instead of regedit so they can edit the permissions. Changing the permissions is a little different in regedt32 but should be fairly straightforward.

Random reboots occur for me too - although this far they haven't been exactly random - they all occur when I try to do the boombox thingy in the Boston level and press the joypad down... Strange, very strange.

Haven't seen any problems apart from that this far though. Anyone experiences something similiar? Problem with the RLD crack only perhaps?

Finally got the time to try tje trick out and tell me what! It worked! Now the only problem with this game anymore is it´s bloody jerkiness, but no BSOD:s or random reboots for me. Guess the faults really are in the crack, since the pc-version has been in stores for a while now, but there`s no sign of a patch to it.
