Finished portal in 1 hour and 40 mins,

felt like an extended demo, almost like you were just getting the hang of it and then it all goes wacky then its over.

Wont spoil it but I laughed my ass off at the credits song, you will too!

yum...cake.

The custom levels is what's gonna make this game amazing. The sooner someone makes a level where the goal is to see how far you can fling yourself the happier I will be.

That's pretty good, I bet. I didn't time myself So somewhere between rls and get go to the theoretical max of 3hours 40mins; But I'm not sure I have you beat. Anyway, have any of you done the time levels? I think it's just a little boring, but I'll give it a shot later today.

I think it was worth the money. I've finished it quickly, and some people most likely much quicker; but there's replay value. I've spent total 7.7 hours in game today, to solve same puzzles \w some restrictions applied. If I didn't have a headache, I'd be playing still! So, at the very least, grab the free version; but I'm a sucker for the entire steam concept. I can download any games i own at any time, I get free patches, no DRM nonsense, very easy, very fast - this is how games SHOULD be destributed, and everything else for that matter. The pirate in me buys valve games because they are good, and because they are on STEAM. Of course some people disagree, I have no clue why though.

In short, get portals any way you can, the puzzles are great and the replay value is emmense.

I love the personality they've given to the turrets, the first time I knocked one over and it said "I don't hate you" I couldn't help but chuckle to myself.

They are so cute Crying or Very sad

Mutanis warned me of Portal when starting it up... and he wasn't wrong, it does fuck you up Very Happy such a great little game. Just the right amount of content in my opinion as I think any more and it would have diluted the experience. As others have said already if you want more puzzles the mod community are the guys for that - and the portal gun is such fun to use that I can see it taking off.

The ending was fantastic, I literally smiled and really that never happens in gaming for the large part. The climatic end sequence was also well constructed (you'll see Very Happy) - and one thing I've noticed with these newer valve games is the expansive use of audio (which is also subtitled) - it's much broader and expressive. I love it Smile

just for the record, the fix is:

<portaldir>/SteamEmu.ini

Line18:
before fix:
Quote:
MountCacheManual = 428
;With this you can manually mount cache files, but you will need the CacheID to mount optional caches.

after fix:
Quote:
MountCacheManual = 405
;With this you can manually mount cache files, but you will need the CacheID to mount optional caches.

confirmed to work fine after changing 428 to 405 Smile

@chynx:

its 2433MB, just Portal. unpacked it will be 4,96GB.

HL2 Ep2 which just came out is ~4483MB , but thats a separate release.

now just waiting for tf2 and everythings fine... Very Happy

Hey guys, does anyone in here know if the portal torrent ( when installed etc.) will mess around with my steam ?

As in , will it get me my account deleted or something ?
Do I need to create a new acc for it to work (safely) ?

Yeah, I loved the different personalities of the eyes you pick up at the end, the first one that keeps asking questions was so cute I almost didn't want to burn it.

Did anyone else also really get the desire to reach the surface towards the end? It reminded me of that film Cube, what an excellent manipulation of atmosphere by valve!
