Quote:
<idsif> you're smarter than the average american
<ascian> of course. i'm canadian.

I think that sums it up about Canadians.

(That quote was taken from www.qdb.us)

As for saying Canadians are stupid, I'm sorry to say that after my years in college (in the US), teachers tend to say that Canadians are usually smarter, and learn faster.

Also, I read in this thread that someone wouldn't stereotype. Stereotyping is natural. In fact, you have to use stereotypes all the time to save cognitive energy. That's not saying that all stereotypes are good, but stereotyping is inevitable. At first, you stereotype.. then the elaborate thinking kicks in (when someone doesnt fit your prototype, based on your stereotypes), but usually, you find a reason why that person is not in the category, so the stereotype is not affected. (Stereotypes are also known as categorical thinking).

Also, I don't post often, but fagboy5 doesn't know what he's talking about. Ever.

I love the quotes on that site:

<frank> can you help me install GTA3?
<knightmare> first, shut down all programs you aren't using
* frank has quit IRC. (Quit)
<knightmare> ...

<+kritical> christin: you need to learn how to figure out stuff yourself..
<+Christin1> how do i do that

<Raize> can you guys see what I type?
<vecna> no, raize
<Raize> How do I set it up so you can see it?

<gorilla> if i added up all the penis enlargement emails i have, i would be entitled to, with a money back guarantee, a 14 foot 9 inch penis
Comment: #gtaforums @ irc.mikernet.org

<xterm> The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Basically, the owner of bash.org was treating his mods like shit, and they were tired of it, so they started qdb. (bash.org is no longer maintained, I think).

omfg this thread roxx0rs my b0xxorz......
To think people today have such a hard time comprehending why a world war can emerge from seemingling out of nothing and cause such an amount of hatred as the second world war did, when people on a forum in a thread about commercial digital entertainment in this case Half-Life 2, where said people have nothing to gain regardless of their views on the game. They still end up discussing nationality and whos better than who, for christ sake people relax and enjoy yourselves this is the digital age of entertainment, the age of information where boarders and other country defining limits are nonexistent. You should rejoice at the opertunity to become as one, the people of the internet. A country with no apperent leader, no social classes, no apperent laws, no need for human rights, and no starvation. Thus i hereby announce the country 'if you can call it that' for Internadia and its inhabitants, daily surfers, porno mongers, pirates and what else you may be for "Internadians".
May you all enjoy your new found Independence.
Thus ends this manifesto.

just a small question...

afaik, you can dl maybe about 95% of the game over steam for free, before you ever purchase the game. The last 5%, containing the important files for the game to run, are being dled after purchasing the game. Would it then be possible that groups release the last 5% of the game together with a separate installer which then unlocks the game? That would mean that the release would only be maybe 300 megs big or so? The rest of the game has been legally downloaded over steam...

When the game is officially released, you'll be able to play it immediately.

As opposed to:

A locked version of half-life 2 is on your hard-drive

Indeed you'll be ready to play immediately, but, will you actually own Half-life 2? In the End User License Agreement it states you're subscribing to a service, not buying a product. If that's the case, then I'll go pick up my HL2 in a nice DVD case and rest comfortably knowing that I own it for all eternity.

So? I'll rest comfortably knowing that I didn't even pay for it. Very Happy

Actually if I didn't have a voucher I would buy it in stores but that doesn't really matter.

So right!, used voucher as well. Anyone can basically play it now as it is even though its locked/encrypted its not hard to unencrypt and get the required files in the right folders *hint* its not pretty good privacy
