I think moderators need to rename topic. Proper english name is "Hired Guns:The Jagged Edge" and add link to demo on first page.

looks incredible, very much faithful to original games.

So lemme get this straight: There will be a Jagged Alliance 3, which is the real successor to Jagged Alliance 2, and then there is going to be this JAZZ game, which is like JA but with different characters, locales and such?

Well I tried it for a few minutes and it didnt seem that bad. The world map is tiny though, so I have a feeling it will take you a day or so of non stop gaming to get through it...

I don't know about that. Well, I have no proof or anything but it doesn't really seem like he was ever a big part of it, not THE biggest anyways. It seemed to me like Linda and Ian Currie did all aspects of game design on JA2(as well as most other sirtech games) and were really the 'parents' or something of the game.
Always seemed like Richard is just the suit who spouts out PR stuff...

Sorry but your Richard Therrien is just a producing manager at Strategy First he did nothing on JA2! Strategy First have been publishers of the game since the Gold edition of JA2. They just bought the rights and nothing else, this guy's task was just administrative... Like Silverblue said, no programmer or artist from the original JA franchise (JA1 & 2 & UB), the former Sir Tech is part of this team.
And frankly watching the movie I've seen about this so called JA3, they recycled the old JA2 music, it looks like a pathetic attempt imitating what used to be, the game looks exactly like Silent Storm as it uses exactly the same engine, like many other russian clones of Silent Storm. It looks dated and has no real ambiance feeling like the prequels, It's quite certain it's gonna be a failure... just look at those poor faces and animations. Like if JA was just blowing up every building in the game and nothing else...

lol seriously, Richard Therrien, WHO?
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/jagged-alliance-2/credits
I'm sorry but this game is going to suck just like the Jazz or whatever it's called now. I'd have some hope if company with some credibility would be working on it but that's not the case. Think about X-Com and all the crappy UFO clones that have been released, that's what's happening here.

gamespot firstlook:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/jaggedalliance3/preview_6174872.html
" ... including old favorites like leadership, marksmanship, strength, and speed. ...
...you still give move orders to your teammates to send them along through the areas, and once you've sighted hostiles, the game still switches to a fully turn-based battle that lets your team and your enemies move and act only as long as they have "action points" they haven't spent yet. The turns in the battles still switch between your teammates and the enemies, who, when out of sight, are represented by glowing red polygonal silhouettes. The game will still have "interrupt" phases for alert characters who still have remaining action points that let the characters react to enemies who have blundered into line of sight. Interestingly, the new game will have some measure of destructible objects, so that you can shoot through doors, for instance, though we didn't see this have any significant effect on gameplay so far; we watched Scope blast through wooden door to get at an enemy soldier who had run into sight, though we were still unable to draw a bead on an enemy who was just around the corner from the shattered entrance."
Glad to read that...

I don't know how you can mistake Jagged Alliance 3 with Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge?
Different game names, different developers, different publishers...
Plus the same demo was posted 4 days ago anyways.
So old news and wrong topic.

As much as I'd LOVE for this to be a real deal and to materialize as a decent movie...I Really really doubt it ever will happen. I'm sure the budget a movie depicting anything somewhat related to the storyline of any of the JA series would cost a pretty penny. Like tens of millions. Which I am sure no hollywood producer in their right mind would pay for a movie based on a little known franchise.
Kinda OT but anyone see the tv series Soldier Of Fortune, Inc? That show was the greatest show ever, the first few seasons anyways. The characters and plots reminded me of the JA mercs and the different roles yer mercs play. Too bad it was before its time and never got much attention..

I was looking forward for this release but one thing bothers me - The screens are always so closed in and the hud is huge!
I want the shooter and the victim in the same view.
Has anyone seen a biger picture? it seems the scale his fixed no zooming out?

that would be ridiculous
i'm sure it's zoomed in just to show off the graphics and detail
and it's the SS engine so you can just adjust it from an .INI if you don't like it
the UI does look ridiculously huge now that you mention it
it could easily be half the size.. the textures are stretched out as is
there's probably an .ini entry for gui elemets aswell though
