is there a scene release of DT Pro?
Do you mandatory need to commercial version of DT to mount SolidShield Tages images or can the "free" edition of DT do it?
Are the images MDS/MDF or some different format?

Movement and combat don't make a RPG. What about nonlinearity? Choices & Consequences? Freedom? Could you give me more info regarding these?

I'll post more info tonight regarding your questions.

Story looks good so far and so do the cutscenes though. We'll see.

Concerning freedom...hmm...you don't really free to explore during the 1st hour, it's more like Dark Messiah of Might and Magic so far, you're just guided to certain places.

BUT I'll post later on today as I cannot judge the game yet of course.

Oh well, in Daggerfall you're railroaded too for the first half a hour, then it becomes the most nonlinear game ever conceived Very Happy

What to do then?

Windows 32bit is supported. Are you running 64bit?

If you're expecting an Elder Scrolls you'll be disappointed. It has a more linear structure and this is only good for the narrative and story.

Oh no, I don't. At all. I mean, it'd be a dream to have a game like Daggerfall, but I want The Witcher to be the opposite of something like Oblivion Smile

Anyway, I DO expect choices & consequences galore and Fallout-style of gameplay.

By the way, I just LOVE usenet. 6 gb downloaded in 2 hours!

Oh well, I actually don't care about that in a massive single-player RPG like this. I mean, there are MMORPGs (or MUDs, which are a WHOLE better) if you want MP Smile

I'm at my wits end...I can't get that fucking DT PRO to work. I am using the one with the PATCH. I install the progam...then when I go to copy the PATCH to the program folder it says it is in use. When I move it to the program folder and I double-click the PATCH.exe it I don't have access to the file...WTF. I'm running WINXP SP2. I have tried re-booting after the install and still it won't let me copy the patch to the fucking folder....Please help a poor Canadian Sap out!!! Thanks

Your antivirus/firewall is probably blocking the file because it recognizes it as a virus (even if it isn't). Got AVG?

That's how I feel about combat. Unresponsive and awkward, looks like it's totally different from those gameplay videos posted.

I'll play more though....

Ok, combat may be shit, but I'd like to hear opinions about nonlinearity/interactivity/choices & consequences/freedom of choice. Anyone?

I loved the cutscenes, and the voice acting is great.

The combat system is very satisfying when you get the rhythm for combos in. The targeting when you fought multiple enemies was pretty weird though, but might get fixed in the patch.

Music is also great, the game seems so polished.

It runs like utter shit on my computer though; Amd 3200+, 1gb ram, 7900GT. So I'll wait with playing more until I upgrade.

Anyone?

By the way, shadak, combat doesn't make a RPG. If The Witcher is as dialogue-based as I heard it'll be one of the best RPGs of the last years.
