It can't be shittier than Diablo. Here at least you have to get the rythm right, as opposed to just random clicking.

As far as dialogs (quality of presentation & animation) go, from what i have seen, it's no Mass Effect but what other game is? NWN2 is no better.

I don't care about this, I want depth, barnching dialogues, ability to make choices. Graphics can be shit for me, gameplay can't.

Anyone?

By the way, shadak, combat doesn't make a RPG. If The Witcher is as dialogue-based as I heard it'll be one of the best RPGs of the last years.

The choices makes a great impact on the game anyway, from the first choice like 20 mins into the game, won't spoil what happens though Razz

And yeah combat is actually pretty good, i bet he likes holding his mouse for an hour watching the monsters go down.....

That's very important to me as well but i wouldn't go as far as to say graphics are meaningless. Good audio/visuals can... how to say it in english... deepen the experience greatly, make it more emotional resonant. It's like watching a B-movie with crappy actors and script/dialog, no matter the underlying story, which could be even good, at the end of the day the movie will get a D grade at best.

Newest Daemon Tools don't work for me. Used the patched version and it still asks for an activation AFTER the patch. Anyone had the same problem?

How do you know Mass Effect will have great dialogue?

The combat is a bit weird at first, but it requires getting used to.

Basically i said great LOOKING dialog. How do i know? I watched previews. Never said anything about the words spoken but knowing Bioware it at least won't suck.

Dont get me wrong I said that based on those statements only Smile .. What I mean is that I cant really play a game where you fight only for the story, it may be just myself tho..I just want to enjoy the fight and gore as well.

For example I absolutely love dialogs and story in BG2 and Fallout2 but I also love the combat system (although its a bit different here cuz from what I saw you cant really pause the fight).

Good question. Sure visuals are great, but the dialogue of Mass Effect I saw allowed to make choice between yes and no (remember Fallout and Fallout 2 had sometimes more than five options which affected the quests and great branching dialogues).

I'm sure that would you be able to choose between two games, both the same, just one with amateurish production design and the other a so called AAA big budget title, you would choose the latter.

And with graphics i don't neccessarily mean the latest gimmicks and shaders but rather things like art design (which is good in The Witcher). Plus there are other aspects like direction, animation, voiceover, music etc that all contribute.

No, because I couldn't run it Laughing

Anyway, and you're free not to believe me, my dream RPG would have Daggerfall's (1996's) graphics Smile

Ok Cacaro, improved impressions.

Combat system: At first it really puzzles one, but as someone said, you've got to find the rythm, then it becomes quite easy. One thing to be careful with is YOU ONLY NEED TO SINGLE CLICK when attacking an opponent - Geralt will approach him and hit him. If you keep clicking in the style of Diablo you'll mess everything. Single click first - followed by timed clicks afterwards.

Camera: The sensitivity has to be adjusted, the default 5 is ridiculously slow. I find 9/10 works a lot better. ( using the high isometric camera ). It sometimes troubles me though especially when going around corners.

Story-Talents: I was baffled at first with some upgrades I couldn't perform. When you point to some icons in the upgrades it says "story based talent" which means, you learn it from an in-game character, you cannot use it by simply applying skillpoints there.

Important : If you don't want to hold down alt all the time in order to find objects in the room, simply turn the object label ON from the options menu. It's very helpful finding some hidden boxes.

Choices: They seem to affect what's going on, so I guess the replay value should be ok. More on that as I progress.

The dialogue can be rather interesting at times and choices do have consequences.
(Which I learned shortly into the game when my character had a flashback and reflected on one of the earlier choices I made.)

Here's some of the dialogue I've seen, also note a few of them are taken out of context and might appear a little odd. Very Happy

(Happened when I saved a woman from a bunch of rapist bandits.)

(Saved a dwarf from some racist thugs.)

(Random thug in deep thoughts.)

(That woman who nearly got raped, lost her chastity anyway.)

(Some guards admiring my combat brutality after a small bandit ambush.)

(Actually this is my characters reply to the above elf's greeting in elvish, looks better this way.)

so you can't run the clone release unless you have DTPro with IDE, which is not available in Vista it seems. So you can't run it in Vista?

Or do I have an old version of DTPro that doesn't support virtual ide drives at all?

Do you have the 4.10.0218 release from L33VaNcL33F?

It's marked as "Vista Compatible" anyway, so it should work. And yes, it seems you need the IDE adapter to make the mounted ISO work.

Yeah, don't worry about the blood as fighting can be quite brutal with blood splashing from every hit and even dropping of the weapon for a short while if you use the same weapon during multiple fights, blood also sticks to the weapons for a short time and finishing moves usually mutilate the body with slashes, stabs and decapitations. Very Happy
(And yes it's simply a clipping error in that screen, just happens for a short time and isn't really noticeable.)
