Um...since when does 7/10 NOT equal 70%?

Nice review, even though it doesn't have much detail.

The reviewer complains about one-liner NPCs and then they praise Oblivion for its interesting dialogue, like "good old aventuring"? Come on. Rolling Eyes

Seems like he read all the previews on Internet and summarised them in a flat and generic review.

I lost all the respect I had for Eurogamer when they gave Oblivion a 10/10, anyway.

LOL Cacaro. If you see the link with the ~50 review sites about Oblivion the average is like 90-95%

Eurogamer gives Two Worlds a 4/10.

I can even scan those two maps that i got with my edition (don't know if its goes against the rules of this forum) - the hole that i bought for pack was 2 dvds (Game + VIdeo DVD of making of ) 1 cd with the Game music two maps , Game manual , Game Guide , and a book from Adrzej Sapakowski "Wiedzmin"

Ok, now I feel dumb.

I have to open the damn gate inside the fortress, but I can't. I should interact with the wooden handle, but I simply can't!

To be honest ratings that are not in percentages are not ratings, and as such i don't think that 7/10 should ever equal 70%

Pff..you die hard rpg dice lovers

I think you would agree with the 7/10 about witcher if you read what it says, that guy agrees with me saying about many rpg elements missing.

I think 7/10 it's pretty reasonable.

Quote from the Eurogamer Review:

Let's talk about the term "role-playing game", shall we? It's one of those phrases that has slipped into the gaming vernacular so easily that we tend to forget what it actually means, and end up using it all wrong. Common wisdom has it that any game in which your character earns experience and levels up accordingly can be tucked away under the RPG blanket. For me, that's only half right. The clue's in the name - role-playing. Games in which you create a role and then act out that character in the gameworld. Without the freedom to come up with your own virtual identity, what you're really talking about are adventure games with a few RPG trimmings.

On the spot.

However it could be justified up to a point that it is based on the novel where the witcher is not a thief/mage/ etc but a monster slayer.

And?

In Ultima VII you didn't create your own character either, you didn't choose statistics, abilities, you had to take the role of The Avatar. Still it's one of the best RPGs ever made regarding many aspects. The living world, the amazing depth of the dialogue with NPCs (of which Oblivion has none, by the way), your ability to make choices which impact quests/NPCs/the world, the ability to interact with the environment as much as you wanted (you could bake bread and take the role of a baker, for example). Still you had to play a premade character which couldn't evolve much.

The Witcher settings: All max, 4x aniso, except for medium shadows. @ 1280x1024

Main Menu 1st load when you enter the game = 1 minute 2 seconds. ( Vizima Outskirts)

Entering a small house = ~4,5 seconds

Exiting the house = 21 seconds ( !)

Quicksaving = ~14,5 seconds

Quickloading = ~45 seconds (!)

.......

Ok, here it is: E6420(stock) 2GB ddr2, Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 OC , onboard sound, 320 GB sata 2 Seagate, win xp sp2 , 163.75 forceware drivers

1st load (vizima outskirts) - 33 sec
house - 3 sec
exit house - 8 sec
quicksave - 13sec
quickload - 30 sec

Everything maxed out, 1280X1024
The quicksave and quickload aren't exactly "quick" but the rest it's ok.

Hmm...seems my loyal x1900xt needs overclocking, it should be the vga, coz it doesn't make sense otherwise. We have a whooping 30 seconds difference in 1st load.

Wtf?? Quicksave we only have 1sec difference, yet in quickload we have 15secs...
hmm... It seems your cards uses its texture memory a LOT faster...that's why when it has to load stuff, yours is so much faster, but saving is almost the same.

This game makes me miss the half-life 2 engine = 1 second quicksave ^^

Hey - DID U RESTART THE GAME WHEN U APPLIED THE PATCH? (I didn't )Just to make sure it's not coz of the patch and only of the faster texture memory.
