huh...weird,since it runs smoothly for me,no hick ups or anything with all settings maxed.
You sure you running the latest gfx drivers?
ps.Great game. first EA game worth a buy in a long time...maybe. |
Does 18-22fps sounds smooth for you? for me it dont yes i have 169.01 forceware. Just seeing that red flashlight not so far from start seeing it drops to 12-16fps suggests how it will perform at heavy fight, when a farcry got released it also wasnt much smooth and it takes some times to enjoy full eyecandy without much slowdowns. At least there is no point to use AA at all, since postprocessing effects takes most of jagged edges away. |
Well tbh,I didn't check fps when i played, but I did play it with 163.75 drivers and now after testing 169.01 it feels like it ran better on the older driver, but since I didn't check the fps I can't be totally sure...but it looks like it.
oh and I ran it on XP,so don't know about vista performance.

Holy shit that was about the best 4.5 hrs of gaming I've had in a looong time. And just from a demo, too...I'm fucking blown away. Anyways the only thing that sucks about this game is that it will be hard to enjoy everything else coming out soon until playing the Full Crysis experience...
Oh well and the hardware reqs kinda suck I agree...the first game that made my lil lappy(2.0c2d & 2x8600m gt's) feel very inadequate running :'(
Hopefully with some patches it will run much much smoother...I have faith in the Crytech guys.
Oh and anyone else keep thinking how 100x badass this game would be with a co-op mod? Just hope it is possible to made like it was with the original far cry..

This game is awsome ... first one deserving to be played in a long time. Optimization seems ok for what the game offers

Make sense, but even if got money i cant spend it on something that will play crysis smoothly, since nothing that powerful exists, thats sucks hard |
Dude you have 8800Ultra and thats not enough pfff....
this is way fucked up...i knew G88 will be a let down in DX10 just lame.
OVERALL the game have the best graphics ever!!!thats for sure but the big problem there is no hardware to run it normally in dx10 and im not talking about dx9 that runs average..
i hope i'l play it in a year or two better with better hardware...but right now crysis doesn't fit to todays hardware. |
that was the intention, to create a game that would last... its definately a unique idea i think, creating a game that looks good on current hardware, but will really shine a year down the road when the hardware catches up to the game.

Ok so I guess people around there who are saying the game is fast are using the DX9 version of it. (add -dx9 to the exe) because with my 8800GTS 640MB the game is slow as hell in DX10, and sometimes it feels laggy as if i had a bad ping as someone reported earlier.
But in DX9 it's 40fps min in HIGH, so it's definitly playable.
Anyhow I feel sad to have bought a 8800GTS to play DX10 games if I can't even actually play a game in DX10 because it's too slow. It's like having a 8600GT, a DX10 card for nothing...
Oh, and am I the only one who gets like 5fps if i put CSAA 8X ? even FSAA 4x = 10FPS.. It's a shame and those who are saying the game is optimized are wrong, else FSAA wouldn't take down my FPS that much.

Dude did you even know about or try the nano suit functions? Yeah if you go from point A to point B without sneaking around/throwing enemies/tearing down houses/jacking vehicles/ect ect, yeah I guess it is pretty dull gameplay. To me, it felt like an awesome sandbox to play in that also just happened to be one of the best fps I have played in recent years.

upstart, dont waste your time, if he wants to write the game off for whatever reason, then thats his loss.
presonally i thought the game was awesome, the gameplay was intense and strategic, and the multiplayer, with the inclusion of a massive area and the suit, makes for one hell of a deep tactical and skillfull playing experience. im so looking forward to the retail.

You need a 64-bit operating system to run it.

I think the nano-suit functions are pretty limited, it seems like it doesn't take more than 1 shot or 2 shots to deplete your suit making it very unusable in combat overall.
But you're definitely right about the sandbox-thing, pretty cool.

Ofcourse I did - Sure those things are in it, but its still a bloody boring fps game imo.

people have been force-fed the "you have to upgrade to enjoy shit" attitude ever since the pc came out. Most noticed years ago, that in most part that is nonsense. If it wasnt for constant leaps in the gaming-industry and an increase in video / multimedia-enthusiasts (dvd-encoding), there wouldnt be much need for faster systems.
The gaming enthusiasts are the ones that drive the market nowadays and even those dont always understand why one should be forced to upgrade every half year to a new generation of expensive hardware and often enough jump to consoles.
Be happy if you have a rig that plays the latests games and dont give those on a different upgrade path untoward attitude.
Especially since there always will be games from a-list companies that will kick the living shit out of the respective "enthusiast-level" hardware upon release as well, because they want to ensure a longer product cycle and have the wow-factor associated with their company's name.
FarCry was the same thing. It ran on slower hardware but scaled well beyond contemporary hardware. So people expect from the company similar scalability with Crysis and will try it out on older hardware to see if it runs.
There are games out there with kick-ass gfx and kick-ass gameplay that arent that taxing on the hardware, so alot of people (the majority of gamers has 1-3 year old hardware) will complain about crysis being sluggish or fugly in comparison to those that run well and look great. And not without merit imo because performance and butt-fuglyness is always subject to optimization-strategies and target-plattforms, so everybody has a right to criticize or at least discuss Crytek-decisions.
I ll try the demo this weekend and give you a short review of it on shitty hardware, that can run the latest u3-engine-based games just fine, so the voice of the "omgwtf it doesnt run on teh 5 year old hardwarez" isnt overheard!
But since i was a huge fan of Farcry i ll buy the game anyways and enjoy it perhaps a year from now with a better system too

yeah. if you're not that much into shooters then crysis won't change anything and you probably won't like it. it may look better than any other shooter but it's still a shooter. and the nanosuit doesn't exactly turn it into an adventure or anything.
