I never ran an update on my wiikey.
So - first - burn bootdisc.us.iso (g update) onto DVD - boot up wii- it will appear as GC game. Click on it --wait till it updates.
Then, do I need to run Setup disc v1.3 (PAL/USA/JAP)? Or not needed?

todd, for me i also needed to run fixsize.bat which is supplied with their setup disc (otherwise my burn program would interpret the 40meg iso as a cdr iso, not a dvdr iso). So if you burn that update take this in mind

btw just for you PAL owners... do be carefull. I played metriod prime 3 (USversion), which installed a US firmware on my Wii. Also got the double channels (didn't bother me), but as a second bad thing I can no longer access my settings menu (getting a browser error). This has been verified as a 'semi-brick', and should be resolvable by installing a newer PAL firmware on my Wii (unfortunately, I do not seem to find a game that has a newer PAL firmware than metroid prime 3)
Just a word of caution

anyone who tried brickblocker?
found this on gbatemp:
Super Mario Galaxy (PROMiNENT) Currently works with D2Ckey, CycloWiz 3.6 BETA upgrade, and the new Wiikey 1.9g update. Game is playable on PAL. Set the Wii language to English!(Use Wii Brick Blocker,no duplicate channels)

My buddy who has a Wiikey clone from DealExtreme or whatever that site was said that the patch worked great on NTSC. No problems playing Galaxy at all.

OK. So, I dont need to run the setup disc at all then? Update can run independent? Ill run the fixsize.bat only if needed. Thanks!

here's what I did:
PAL wii with wiikey (I have no ideia if it's original or clone!)
-burned the 1.9b update with nero (had to manually choose dvd)
-updated the wiikey fw
-updated the wii fw to 3.1E
-patched the image to PAL
-burned as usual
-game asked for update, I said yes
-play!
GREAT GAME!
10/10 easy!!!

Got it working on the clone. Turned out I had to agree to the update the disc asks you for. Thats one hell of a gamble.
Just to clarify, it does just black screen if you use brick blocker.

jaapie18 as I said in my previous post it does NOT work if you use brickblocker, it appears in disc channel but on boot the screen stays black.

That's where I got my WiiKey from... ($30) or something like that.
I had no idea they were selling clones.
I'm in NTSC Land so I shouldn't expect any problems.
Can you update if you've never ran an update before...?
Did someone confirm...?

I had to run the Upgrade G 3x before it worked! The 3rd time said in RED - Do Not power off WII--updating!!The other 2x never said that...Nice pic of chick too!
Just a warning..I was getting Error#1 Unauthorized..It does not mean you have a clone. Just re-run upgrade again..and again..until u see in red power off and homer speak.
I never upgraded the setup disc either. Mario plays fine

i played mario galaxy for about 20 minutes today, and wow is this game the very definition of a polished gameplay experience, it definitely turns the platformer genre on its head to new mindbending dimensions, I definitely hope its a long game because I intend to savour every moment of it!
Graphics are superb (for the wii) but its style makes up for most games. Controls smooth as butter, camera was a little wacky but i sorta got used to it, Ive got a headache now, Im not sure if its from runnnig around mini planets taxing my brain or not.
Enjoy it, I can safely say the Wii has a new king.
