BLADESTORM: THE HUNDRED YEARS’ WAR puts gamers in the role of a rogue commander and gives them direct control of mercenary units in fierce clashes with English and French forces. The game’s unique style of action thrusts players into dynamic and ever-changing conflicts. Players must adjust their strategies as skirmishes evolve, and then deploy the unit best-suited to handle the challenge. At a player’s command is a broad array of troops including infantry, archers, and cavalry, as well as a variety of specialized units such as elephant units, cannoniers, and castle siege specialists. While each unit is comprised of autonomous soldiers, each warrior will contribute to the assigned objective.

Looks like another Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors/Warriors Orochi saga with a new engine. Not that it's a bad thing. I enjoyed all the previous games.

Looks good Smile

I was never very keen on this type of game - Ninety Nine convincedme otherwise. Really like the DW/SW games now... Always nice to have another one to try...

from what I've seen this is more like kessen 3 without the strategy.
YOu control a squad of soldiers instead of just one guy like in dynasty warriors I think.

they got dynasty warriors 6 on the way too though, so that's ok.

sooo how's the demo?

It's Multi5

I heard that this game is not for everyone, but as a big dynasty warriors fan I'll definitely check it out.
I've always wanted a more strategic version of dynasty warriors, and this game seems to be just like that.

hehe yeah... lots of great stuff coming out this month.

unreal tournament 3, assassin's creed, crysis, mass effect, call of duty 4, need for speed prostreet, blacksite: area 51

November is a good month for gaming. I'm afraid my 360 will blow up though. I don't think it can take mass effect and assassin's creed without giving me some more red lights.

I dont think we will see UT3 this year. Last I heard it was to be a PS3 exclusive meaning the PS3 would get the game this year and the X360 version wasnt due until the first quarter of 2008.

The same applies to Haze which looks freaking awesome I have to say.

May the NFOrce be with you always.

yeah I guess, I wasn't actually thinking about the console version of UT3, but of the PC version which we will get in november. Was probably a bit misleading to post that together with the other stuff here in the console section :-)

I thought the PS3 version of UT3 was also delayed and won't be out till next year? Only the PC version is out this year I think.

you're several hours too late I already posted that release 5 posts or so above you.

anyway..

I like this game, it's fun, huge battles. It's a mix between Dynasty Warriors and Kessen 3 with some new original features.
I can see this game not appealing to everyone, but as a dynasty warriors and kessen fan I can recommend this game to other people who like those games.
It definitely looks better than those 360 dynasty warriors games which looked pretty much just like the PS2 version, and it's a lot deeper than Ninety Nine Nights.

story is a very minor thing in this game. you create your own character, it's not like in dynasty warriors. you basically just play some random mercenary and get job offers in a tavern.
you can decide wether to fight for france or england in battles.

for fighting you get cash, and each unit type you use in battle gets their own skill points depending on how much you used em during that battle. you use skill points to increase the power of those unit types.
you can use money in the tavern between missions to buy items for your character, or temporary stat boosts to use in battle, and you can also buy squads which you can then summon in battle. once they are summoned you can either control them yourself if you want, or you can leave em to the AI.

it's something new... hasn't been done before. it has elements of dynasty warriors and kessen but it's really a whole new game.

oh well, we PAL people have bladestorm, but the NTSC people have Ace Combat 6. I want to play that already!

still liking bladestorm btw, lots of fun, and the harder difficulty levels are pretty challenging and you really gotta be careful what to attack with what. (no charging into a spear wall with cavalry!)

They have Ace combat 6 and Beautiful Katamari. I've played this game briefly and took an instant dislike to it! A typical Koei game.

this game is a blast. I got worked in a few levels by charging in like a dumbass. You REALLY don't want to fight an army head on unless you have to. I end up moving in, summoning 3 squads of troops and laying waste to them. Have portable army will travel!

hehe yeah it's pretty cool attacking a castle on your own and then summoning a small army.
it's a pity you can't command troops other than the one you're currently in to go where you want though. some large scale strategic control ala Kessen would rock.
