Really? I've read a few previews that said it was well optimized...

Edit:

Then there's the question of performance. Gears is still a gorgeous game, but in both DX9 and DX10 we noticed it would stutter on a regular basis. Things would run smoothly otherwise, but the regular occurrences of dropped frames were distracting. As for our system, we're running 32-bit Vista on a rig with an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.40GHz, a 768 MB GeForce 8800 GTX, and 2 GB of high-end RAM. Granted, that's not exactly the best kind of rig to determine a game's performance, but that's all we've tried it on so far.

WTF? It stutters on that machine? Sad

On such a rig there's no difference on performance. I have pretty much the same thing, only the cpu is E6600 and not a Q6600, and performance is the same on Vista as it is with XP.

hmmm, I'm sure it'll be patched, epic is by far one of the best dev's around so I'm sure they won't let that go

Yeah, it's strange, because UT3 works without a hitch and it supposedly has more going under the hood. Maybe the streaming tech. hasn't been optimized for PC yet (GoW uses UE3 streaming to piece together level so the world would seam like one huge level).

1. Maybe the reviewer had no experience or there was some misconfigurations going on (speculative).
2. They run on different engine builds, UT3 is much newer.
3. GoW was based on the 360, so there's many differences between the two.
4. UT3 uses streaming technology as well, so that has nothing to do with it.

UT3 doesn't stream entire levels like GoW, so no, it doesn't stream. All it streams is textures. And GoW is using updated engine as well, not the crap they used a year ago plus on the 360.

I really wouldn't get in a debate with him when it comes to anything related to the UE3 engine lol

The IGN review was bollocks. Plain aind simple. The controls seem pretty basic to me, and since it's UE3, any idiot can go change them in an ini.

Co-op IS AVAILABLE THROUGH SILVER, despite IGNs claims.

Very Nice! How does it run on your pc (and what pc)? How big is it? What's the protection? Where did you buy it?

The game runs fine on my E6600 2,4ghz, 3gb ram and 8800GTS640.
I dont know what the protection is.
And if u are using vista, be prepared to go fucking crazy. you have to install hotfixes and alot of shit because or else it will crash.
