I have it figured out. When Hiro went to the past and kissed Yaeko, he turned Kensei down a different path.. which altered the future. Both storylines finally are coming together. He is the one that has turned Adam Monroe evil and come after the 12.
When Peter goes to Montreal he goes into that building with Kensei's symbol over it, and a letter from Monroe. I'm not sure if Kensei is Immortal or can time travel like Hiro (maybe he is the root of all the other's abilities and actually has all of them or can absorb them like Peter). You look at everything in that room, and it's things from time past. It's a room full of artifacts. That says that he's either time travelling or immortal (and I believe the latter).
Another way of proving this, is when Hiro's father is pushed off the top of the building, there is no body. Monroe could have either flown away (absorbed through the ages) or used his ability to heal to just run off. Lots of insane shit.
ok, I will be honest, so far season 2 pacing and storyline has left me thinking that this show will become crap, well, I was redundantly wrong, the slow pacing of the previous 6 episodes is perfectly justified by the turning events on this episode.
I'll put my faith back on heroes, if they continue like this, this season will beat the hell out of last season's.
this episode deserves a 20 out of 10
Spoiler:
so, one can assume that it was Adam Monroe who originally formed the company?, when Hiro and Adam where fighting at the tent and Adam said "you will suffer" I instantly perceived is major role on the show, so, is Adam's only power regeneration? or can he mimic or absorve ability's like Peter and Sylar?
I totally agreee with you, this show is starting to roll out crappy girly boring episodes.
I can understand that in first season you take time to present each hero and his story..but comon they're doing it again this season..already 7 episodes wasted.
to sum up the disaster:
- infantile pre puberian romances aimed at teengirl audience
- highly irritating, bad performing new characters (those 2 south americans....)
- rare, castrated action scenes (showing thunder powers is too hard technically speaking?)
- immature and stupid plot...(good ppl falling in bad ppl arms for no possible reason)
- show drifting to Lost-esque crap style
- overall boring feel striking the show
compare that to dexter season 2...its thousands of miles away in terms of writing

so true.. I really hate the parts about those 2 south americans.. fuck that bitch annoys me. Almost stopped watching it a few times.. glad they are not in the latest ep.
and if this episode deserves 20 out of 10 dexter should receive 200 out of 10
while i really do love heroes, i think the 1-year-jump end-of-the-world story with the virus is too much of the same. I mean, it s exactly like episode 1, just not a bomb this time around. On the other hand, we ve got a great villain now. I really loved him in Alias and would ve loved to see him stay good, as i liked him much better on the good team as kensei in heroes. If they kill-off horn-rimmed-glasses man and split-personality woman it ll suck big-time...
Actually, in reading and watching, the bomb was nothing more than Adam's way to get to Peter. When they said "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World". She really had very little to do with saving New York, but, her ability to heal and regenerate should indicate they might create a vaccine for the virus based on her. Saving her may indeed save humanity (which episode 1 alluded to).
Sylar I believe will turn out to be one of Monroe's children. And I believe we'll see Monroe to be very similar to peter, in that he can absorb powers. Or similar to Sylar.
I understand where you'd think it's more of the same.. and of course it is.. it's a continuous storyline, and a fantastic one at that. I won't argue against you, because to each their own.
Also, in response to the Dexter crap. I agree, Dexter is a great show, but in truth, the story for most of those shows are average, and repetitive. It's also a completely different feel and when you're inferring that it's 100x better than Heroes, I guess it is in your opinion, but I don't see the necessity in stating it as fact. They're 2 different storylines, aimed at 2 different audiences, and as successful as Dexter has been, I can tell you for every teenage girl watching heroes, theres a 20 something man, a 30 something man and 40 something man all watching. Whether it be for Hayden, or Ali, or Kristen, or hell, maybe even the story.
As for the 2 south Americans, they're going to have a bigger role to play, as is the black girl. Expect her to become badassingly amazatron. The male south american will turn out to have the greater power. Next few weeks should be fantastic.
PS, for those of you who missed it, read my spoiler above and see how absolutely bang on I was
Now they've finally revealed what was obvious all along (That Sark is the new big bad) I hope the story can start gaining some momentum.
Parkmans dad was pathetic, why didn't someone just bitchslap him instead of them running around cowering from the fat man. He really was one of the least threatening villains ever.
Also, the 'depowering' of Sylar and Peter feels so contrived. All that time that peter spent learning to control his abilities, only for him to lose them straight away. If you can't write a character with godlike abilities into the storyline then don't create them in the first place!

He was not a villain, he was just a pawn. However, I must say Adam seems like the most moronic villain ever. When he introduced himself to Peter, I couldn't stop laughing. How silly that was.
@Phluxed: I didnt really think about the "save the cheerleader, save the world" slogan, because i always thought that it had to do with peter getting the survival trait so he could face sylar without dying. It does really make sense the way you put it, but i m not sure if the writers didnt just use it to spin the story around that way without having it intended in the first place. The dialog about her being the only solution for the virus problem seemed a bit too thrown in too. But it damn well makes sense and i guess i can give that nagging feeling of "more-of-the-same" a peaceful rest now and enjoy the show more, thanx
PS: i m with AM on the Peter-story. It adds to that more-of-the-same feeling, but it also instilled some mystery about what had happened inbetween seasons, so the writers could take the second season slower without having to explain everything at the beginning. I hope for some great next shows, because they have alot of great storylines open to unravel =)
Also, Animal, it seems you're being overly critical
The only reason for that is because the first season was so good. I guess my expectations have been raised too high.

i can't wait to see even more crying from that chica...more "fantastic" performance ....
/sarcasm
Haha, exactly my thought. She and her brother are getting on my nerves way too soon, and it's only early in the season
This season has fallen so short of last year's masterpiece. I knew that at some point it will get this way (every show does), but not that quick All that shit with Clare, the Mexicans, the Company, the Japanese... Yawn, get on with the story already. What are they waiting for? This is a short volume anyway, meant to last until mid-season, when a new volume should start. So wtf?
i havent seen any 2nd-season episode i found to be slower than any of the first season ones. Just some storylines that i personally wanted to be a bit faster (Peter), but that is called suspense. And if the writers can instill that feeling in me, it s all for the better =)
On the other hand, if you find those were "slow", you might suffer from ADD Or MTV-Overdose-Disorder
And while i have my qualms with the way they are plotting season two (see above), i do have a feeling that most of those new storylines are being set up for greatness.
And if its too slow for you, wait till somebody makes a viewers digest for you like this one:
Damn, that electric bitch is hot, and I don't even like blonds.

The problem I have with heroes is that none of the heroes are genuinely unique. It's like everyone is related and has a special power (that they resent!). It dilutes the whole experience.
I like the X-Men and all the rest of it, but there's something to be said for films like 'Batman Begins' and 'Unbreakable' where superheroes are brought up in a realistic environment in a believable way. Obviously it's unfair to compare but would it have been so difficult for them to use the less is more approach?
What makes it even worse is that in not taking the muted approach they still haven't given us the X-Men solidity. There's just all these characters floating around the place, a 'company' with questionable ethics but no mission statement and two main 'bad' guys who aren't really all that menacing (at all!).
I have to agree with AM that when the fat man turned up I fell into huge bouts of laughter. They built him up as the nightmare man and whilst I can imagine his ability to control peoples minds is powerful it was still a huge let down dramatically.
I like (and enjoy) the show but there's far too much melodrama and zipping about from one hero to the next. It's just a shame as I was hoping they'd really improve upon last season significantly.

Her brother is only a guest on the show from what I've been reading elsewhere, while she is a fully listed character. Sylar will kill him I'm sure of it... notice they are forming a relationship?

She's the girl from Veronica Mars, another great show if you haven't seen it already.
