Played two more hours yesterday, and its still the same thing over and over.. Will ofcourse complete the game before i really judge it..

But so far, its been mostly great visuals (graphics overall, GUI/menu/hud etc), but the gameplay is a tad bit lame. No, the game is not bad, really. But its not the greatest game of the year, it really isnt.

So its obviously another advertisement over-hyped game?

its a fantastic game, everything i was expecting it to be, as the first in a proposed trilogy, tbh, it can only get better.

i hope they take everyones complaints to heart. not that i have any currently, okay its repetitive, but it depends how you play it, i really enjoy just climbing buildings for the vantage spots and will do that before i start doing quests..

i think the fight system is fantastic, its a bit hard to grasp at first, but the many counter attack animations are cool and someone look downright painful and occassionally make me giggle.

i think this game is superb..im mostly into sports games and usually get bored very easily with other types of games but this one has got me hooked (i always liked POP tho too) I think the story is excellent the cut scenes really well and the freedom you have is superb. Add to this stunning visuals. Excellent game hope Mass Effect is as good

Ok so I've played a few hours more yesterday evening, bad news it's not getting any better, now I can explain with a bit more detail why it sucks.

First let me just say I'm the first one being disappointed with this game, it looked so cool and I've waited for so long to play it so don't think I'm bashing it just for fun.

So back to why it sucks, first the sword fight are awful, I mean I expected an assassin to get some moves, especially coming from the prince of Persia guys, well apparently I was wrong, so you basically use your sword with X or grab a guy with B and throw him, but because most of the time you are engaged in fights against multiple NPC grabbing a guy is so slow that most likely another guy will come and hit you in the back, so you basically spam X until you manage to kill one, then NPC selection is a bit dodgy so you will attack the wrong guy…that's frustrating.. Anyway this will continue until you realize that you will get kill so you start running.

Running away from a fight is the fun parts, the animation is really good and even if most of the time you have no clue what you are doing, the maps are designed in a way you can do some cool combos, so anyway the guards are running after you and you are like OMG I'm assassin I hide will here in the shadow and slice the guard throat assassin's style and no one will see me awesome, well I'm afraid its not going to happen. So far there's only 3-4 way to escape the guard, 1 you hide in one of those strange little houses on the roof, 2 you site on a bench, 3 you hide in a pile of hay (?used Google translator, basically a pile of dry grass), 4 you blend in with a group of monk, so I mean this sucks major balls… you cant hide anywhere you want, even if you find the perfect place to hide it will NOT reset the guards alarm and they will keep chasing you, lame!

Then the AI is really disappointing, lets say you have five guard right behind you, you climb on a house hide in one of those little thing on a rooftop, wait 5 sec and the alarm is back to normal, the guard are right here, they were chasing you 5 sec earlier but now you can be in front of them, they wont do anything, most of the time they just disappear and respawn at their original place… heh

Then to blending, when I first started playing I was really careful about blending in the crowd, you know trying to play assassin's style, well guess what the AI doesn’t give a shit, you can just push people, make them drop things no on care, they will just say one the 5 scripted sentence "hey watch where you're going" "at least you could apologize"… lame…

Someone said earlier that COD4 was disappointing because SP was only 4 hours, well let me say I'll rather have 4 hours of pure fun than 20+ of this, and It don't even like FPS…

I'm disappointed Sad

100% agree. I'm at the end of the third town and i've made all the sidequests in all three towns. But everytime the same procedure - save the villagers here and get up to the highest points there and so on. Sorry, but this really sucks for an "triple AAA Title".

ok, here's how i play, start the story mode, follow quest, see a vantage point climb said vantage point, dive off vantage point goto next vantage point, climb EXACTLY the same building (wtf), dive off, goto next, repeat 9 times. Do a side quest and rescue NPC, goto next, recuse NPC, do this X amount of time. Evesdrop and sit on bench X amount of time, see a flag and go and grab it 100 times., run through city knocking people over and guards just say "what do you think your doing". Pickpocket someone X amount of times, beat up X person for more info X amount of times, ride on horse across large void (zelda anyone), kill X amount of templers X amount of times, fight X amount of people X amount of times in the same style attack, block, attaxk, block attack, Kill, nothing changes. Yes the enviroment is lovely, atmosphere is lovely, cut scenes and story great. Actually game play isn't

Its too repetative,

Suprised there's a chunk of dislike of the game, even though some bits are repetitive I don't find it un-appealing as the repetitive parts are still fun to do a second, third and even a fourth time. Each to their own I guess Smile

you guys shouldn't just follow objectives blindly. run around, have some fun, do some exploration, set your own goals.

of course if you're one of those people who likes to be taken by the hand and led through the game and isn't a big fan of freeform adventuring in game then that could be a problem.

I'm one of those guys who likes to do some different stuff. Like in operation flashpoint I think it's cool to sit down next to a campfire with some friends in multiplayer and stuff like that, and I'm having lots of fun here with assassin's creed Smile

while it's not as great as I expected, or wanted it to be, it's good enough to warrant a sequel which will hopefully improve.

Well, my computer hasn't been restarted in a few weeks and I've been constantly running some ram intensive programs. I wonder if that was the issue. Plus, I installed Adobe CS3 Master Suite and haven't rebooted. I am burning again after a reboot. I'll let you know what happens.

just a reminder...

T-S DVD drive, iExtrem 1.1 ( I think), Pioneer 112d, Memorex (Ritek is what ImgBurn says), 2.4x

I got a copy to run. I burned the new copy with CloneCD instead of IMGBurn. It might just be a coincidence though because I was streaming a movie to my TViX player while burning the first DVD and it may have hogged some resources and just f'd the burn. Anyways, game is ok, but I'm going back to Call of Duty 4 and starting Mass Effect later this week after I boost my online ranking in COD4.

Pickpocket some guys (watch carefully when you lock in to a specific character it will give you that option and you'll pickpocket some knives)

you also stock up on throwing knives everytime you return to a bureau. i dont feel cheated by this game at all, i think all the people that are passing it off as "shit"/"crap" should try and make their own fucking game, seriously. Ive said it already, but a trilogy of this is planned and it can only get better, its like GTA:Crusades. Your saying its repetitive, they will take that into account next time. I could spend at least 4 hours just running around the rooftops of one of the cities, seeing for example if i could get to one side of the city to the other, without touching the ground in un 2 minutes or something.

some of you guys are "i want it now!" impatient little twits. enjoy a game for once rather than rushing through it, if, for example, you were to play the game at a slower pace and explore, it wouldnt be as repetitive because you'd be doing other stuff between quests.

I don't want a trilogy, you bell end, I want this game to be great and it fucking well isn't. You are obviously a boring fucker if your idea of a good time is to wander round the rooftops for 4 hours taking in the sights. Get yourself some of those picture window DVD's if you like that sort of thing or a fish tank.

Who are you to call people 'impatient little twits', do all the exploring in the world mate and you won't find anything more exciting than some bloke being manhandled by some city guards and the occasional flag. What are you hoping to find? some interesting 12th century urinals?

This game was hyped to fuck, we expected it to be great cos Prince of Persia was great and the tantalised us for months with great looking clips and dazzling us with Jade Raymond. Never let anyone have a go though did they?

The game is repetitive, even the dialoguem, they have had years/months to record as much varied lines as they could for each and every citizen, but no, fucking lazy is what it is and a big swizz for anyone unlucky enough to purchase this. The gameplay is repetitive, the characters are repetitive, the missions, the bureau (could have made 3 different bureaus for god's sake). I give up, you are clearly in denial cos you can't admit we've been sold short.

you didnt even fucking pay for it!

how old are you? upset you spent all your monthly pocket money on 3 verbs or summint?

and like i said, id be much more willing to take your crap if id seen something as creative as AC come out of your incompetent ass.

CoD4 is fantastic, but wtf, AC is a completely different type of game, yet you discuss the similarities between them like one is stilton and the other is roquefort.

excellent summing up of this disappointment from [Evil].

the more i play it, the more i wonder whether i should even have wasted the cost of a verb for it, its that average.

i suppose i shouldnt complain - rather, feel sorry for those that shell out the cash for it on the back of the (so far) blinding reviews. thats the puzzling part, we all know our games on here and its plain to see this is generally perceived as a let-down - id hate to suggest the reviewers have been paid off...perish the thought.
