(First, if this is the wrong forum, my apologies... it seemed like the best pick at the time)
Lately most games are released as larger than 4.1Gb images, which are too large for normal single layer DVD-R's.
Since I would like to store some games to permanent media instead of storing them indefinitely on my harddisk, I'm considering my alternatives.
How do you guys handle this?
- Buy dual-layer media (good ones are about 4 euro a piece I think)
- Burn archived + split images to multiple single-layer DVD-R's. Needs extraction to harddisk before mounting.
I'm looking for a working 3rd alternative though. I read that PowerISO's can create + mount split .DAA images. This would enable me to burn split images to single layer DVD's, without the need to extract the images to my harddisk first.
Does this method work? Anyone used it before?
I'm at work currently and can't try it. Will be tomorrow night before I can attempt it, so it would be nice if somehow could post their experiences with this.
Or is there another virtual drive software (DT maybe) that can handle split images?
