I guess you missed that we were talking about the actual studio movie 'Max Payne' coming out in 2007/2008, and not this fan bullshit the original post was about |

Wahlberg fits perfectly. |
ya no doubt, at least they got a character that looks like him and a good actor at that. Better than that shit they hired to play "47"

i dont really care who they pick.. the film is going to suck ass anyway.
most game to movie conversions will always suck because studios only see these films as ways of cashing in on the fanbase that the game has allready built up. The stuidos have no interest in taking the stories and situations from the games and building them up into excellent movies... its all about the quick buck from an allready established large fanbase that they dont even need to advertise the film too, to get them to eagerly come and see the film.
silent hill rocked, because the guy who directed it loved the game and spent so long getting it made properly, rather than this sort of shit... so yeah, i LOVE the game, but i dont care who they pick for the role, because the film is going to be stupid anyway.

yeah i enjoyed it, but it was made to be a cash in... i guess i can let it slide because it was a pretty well done cash-in, with some awesome fight choreography... but what i said still holds true for all others i reckon.

Well what movie isn't a cash-in at these days? Only indie movies can discuss to sensitive subjects, because they start making them with the notion that they are not going to be earning money from them. All studio films are cash-ins.

well like i said, i dont think silent hill was...
the director spent apparently 5 years trying to get the rights for it, he specifically HIMSELF approached konami, telling them how much he loved silent hill and what the game/story meant to him, and even used his own money to film some scenes from the game that he sent to konami to show them his vision...
i would also say sin city wasnt a cash-in either, because rodriguez himself made a short film and took it to miller, before approaching a studio and getting the film made... its not a game movie, but it is a movie with a pre-existing fanbase...

Alright, I don't get it at all guys )) You've been whining several months about Olyphant not looking like Hitman from the game and now we have Whalberg as Max Payne who isn't even similar to both games' models and everyone is happy. Big LOL.
I mean, Whalberg is great all by himself but him as Max Payne? Come on!

like i said, i dont give a shit who plays it.
i think whalberg is a terrible choice for payne... but yeah... dont give a shit about this movie because i know its going to suck, so im really indifferent about it.. this is a nice feeling, being indifferent to a movie based on a game that i really loved... usually im all pissed off and upset about how its going to be butchered, but ive allready moved on to the acceptance phase

i dont recall max payne being homosexual...
no im kidding, im kidding... im kinda starting to have more and more respect for that dude as an actor... if he could get rid of his 'durrrrrrr' image, and tried more serious roles, he could be quite good... and yeah i can kinda see how he sorta looks like payne... definately a closer match than marky thats for sure.

fact is, the only person who wouldnt suck as max payne is james mccaffrey. someone brought him up on the previous page, and others stupidly trashed the idea immediately because he didnt look like payne, but concider what im saying below before you blindly dismiss it AGAIN...
i mean... imagine max payne in cgi so he LOOKED correct, but sounded like mark whalberg... it'd fucking suck... whalberg is an OK actor, but he could never DELIVER a max payne performance
now imagine a guy that kinda looks right, has the same rugged/raw FEEL (even though he doesnt LOOK quite right, mccaffrey can totally do that type of character), AND combine that with THE max payne voice AND dialogue delivery... i mean come on, thats the only guy who would do it right... max payne is about the character, not the look, but the emotion and the grim delivery... the voice... THATS the shit you'd need to get right... not the look of the character.
and thats what most of you dont seem to understand... youd sacrifice the voice, the delivery, the presentation... all for a guy that LOOKS like payne but nothing else? come on...

Depends on if you take the Max from the first or the second game, they are quite different.
Personally I prefer the "second" Max. He looks much cooler and is more of a Film Noir character.
