Someone should license that engine asap. I've got my head full of UE3engine, it's everywhere I turn and don't look even near as good as cryengine, nor does it runs as good on weaker pcs.

Cevat: The game is designed as a trilogy, so you have two more installments to come and the ending is planned deliberately. But I cannot answer any more questions here please as we want to keep some surprises for you all.

So that's why they have a non-conclusive ending? Simply hilarious. I will pirate the sequels then too, because honestly, the story sucked balls.

Yeah, right. Benefits? The game won't even run smooth at a high resolution with high detail with a quad core, 4gb of ram, and 2x8800GTX SLI (not my setup, but a friend).

hehe..
hey um.. does anyone have any experience with sandbox 2 and heightmaps?
I'm trying to use World Machine to create terrain for a map, but it doesn't seem to work properly.
Take a look at this.
First screen is the terrain I generated in world machine, second one is the heightmap of that terrain imported into sandbox2. the heights are all off and it basically just looks like shit and nothing like what I had in world machine.

does anyone know how to make that work right, or maybe know another terrain generation program that works well with sandbox2?

It seems to work out fine if I use 1 meters per unit. looks a lot better now.. but well, the map is obviously too small then.
So the question is still there.. does anyone know a good terrain generation program other than world machine? world machine basic edition is limited to 512x512 so it seems to be pretty useless here.

If you play an FPS for the story alone, you are missing the point. Just like reading porno mags for the articles. I mean, sure its a nice plus if it has one, but its just an unexpected extra in this type of game. Go play an RPG or something.

if they want to PLAN a trilogy, thats fine with me, just as long as its a planned story arc... i lost a lot of respect in valve when they decided to milk the half life franchise with endless stupid episodes n shit... i dislike not getting a full story, but if its HONESTLY planned this way, i dont mind... just hope they dont milk it, and crysis wasnt just some stupid ass attempt to build a neverending franchise - that kinda shit pisses me off the most, where your not paying for a game, your paying for a promotional tool...

I liked crysis but was uninspired by the alien ship and story line did drift , also I loved the carrier level for it's design but thought it was spoiled by the usuall "BIG BOSS ENDING" crysis reminded me a lot of my reactions to the original HL brilliant up until the ZEN(for crysis input alien) levels and a bit spoiled by a "BIG BOSS ENDING".
And I have the a rather uneasy feeling that Crysis 2 will see our nanosuited freind transported to an alien world to fight more shinny aliens and uber bad guys...I can see it coming
My hint for the devlopers is less ice, less aliens and a return to the true freeform play from far cry which is absent in crysis sadly.

2 things that bothered me about crysis, 1. was even when not using max strength it was so eay in the alien ship level just to grab the aliens then punch them to death, never fired a shot apart from breaking the cylinders, and i did the same with the korean general ...it just seemed to easy even on delta.
2 and that alien freeze minigun explain to me how A weapon that fire's at -200 can overheat. ?

I don't expect a shakespearian tale when playing an FPS, I just expect a little more than 50 lines of dialogue and an open ending.

No, actually he does know perfectly well what he is doing. The game runs like shit even with the best hardware in highest detail. And I'm talking about very high resolutions here, not the crap most people are playing at.

There was no true freeform in Far Cry, if anything you have more freedom of how to approach a situation in Crysis, save for the linear-linear mining levels, the alien structure, and the carrier of course.
