Holy crap, I have never heard Ryan Cooper mentioned so many times in an hour.

So true Laughing I'm thinking of reducing the volume of the announcer, but it's cool when you run past a speaker in the track and the speak is fading away, so haven't yet. Drag having 3 starts in so little time really goes through all those different recorded things fast.

Depends on what hardware you got. If you have to take out too much to get it run smooth, then I'd think 360. Is Xbox360 resolution 1280x720 and does it have AA enabled? Think mine would look as good with 1280x1024, 2xAA, 8xHQ AF, shadows low rest maxed. With beefier GPU PC will beat the quality.

I just have to take it off my chest.

There came Underground and Underground 2 and Most Wanted and Carbon. And everyone was like "woo, cheesy story, bad characters, ridiculous acting, HEY, that couldn't happen in real-life, electric zappers that break down cars, YOU SUCK!, I hate roaming around the city, I hate the cops, I hate the stupid traffic that is like bricks and slow you down, I hate catch-up, I hate how others automatically upgrade when I do, I hate that I can turn at a gazillion mph, I hate how my mere Punto can beat a Gallardo.

And there comes a game that has changed most of these, and may I say imo towards the better, and everyone's complaining for the exact opposite reasons. It doesn't have much of a stupid story that just is too cheesy to follow besides you being Ryan Cooper and trying to beat race day after race day, it doesn't have all those cheesy characters (okay, disable the announcer in audio settings FFS!), it doesn't make you roam for hours in the same streets you've seen over and over again just to get to a race, it doesn't have cops (I didn't mind them but many disagree), it doesn't have the "stupid-fuck level AI" traffic with those ridiculously low poly cars, it doesn't have catch-up, events you couldn't win before you win after earning money and upgrading because they don't catch-up on neither performace nor driving, there isn't any catch-up in the game, you have to actually BRAKE before you turn, you have to actually TUNE your car to get the most of it, and you have to have a pretty much decent car to beat someone. You won't reach the top of the blacklist with your Punto, which you had right when you started.

Also, the game introduces many new things. A drag mode that is just as it should be, a drift mode that actually requires you to drift instead of just holding the up arrow and pressing left or right once in a while, the damage introduced makes you have to worry about how aggressive you'll be since at the end of the race you could be spending most of your earned money in repairs, it has events with leased cars in which you can earn some good money for new cars and upgrades without worrying about damage, it has the very well made Speed Challenge, the AI actually provides a challenge once in a while, money is hard to come by so you won't be going through the game in 2 hours since you'll HAVE to buy new cars and upgrade and not just to do it for the fun of having a Gallardo, and there are many many race days to keep you playing and playing before you complete the career.

It feels like many people around here just don't know what the fuck they want. They can't enjoy a single game anymore. What game got our standards so high? Oblivion? CRYSIS? WHat? Why can't some of you enjoy a single game anymore. You spend most of your time coming here to NForce whining about each and every single game because "OH YES I CAN DOWNLOAD IT WITH MY MULTIPLE MILLION MBPS CABLE", without even trying to play more than 5 minutes and get used to it. Is there something in the air?

Fuck, I'm done with this rant. Thank-fucking-god I can still enjoy the games others get off whining about. At least my day is full of playing games, instead of watching TV while waiting for the next crap to download so that i can uninstall it in 5 minutes and get praised on NForce for bashing it.

EDIT: I'm not saying ProStreet is perfect. I'm saying it's a fun game in an absolute manner. It has its flaws, but its fun, and in many ways better than past installments, as far as the Street Racing era of NFS goes.

Amen to that leftos :O

Sure there's a few downsides in prostreet, but all of the stuff you said is true imo.
I wouldn't mind having some test area's to test my cars, free roam was cool for a while but I basicly didn't use it at the end (used the safe house instead Razz). Anyways screw the people who didn't give this game a chance and just started bashing it to hell!

yeah leftos speakin the truth.. imo pro street is good game, even cause i dont usually like arcade racers.
only things i hate in this game is that drifting doesnt feel like drifting, it feels more real when done in grip mode...
and when you drift in grip mode it sometimes automatically turns your car after drift to left when u were drifting to right, it pisses me off when i crash because of that. yeah some turns are faster when properly drifted.

Nice rant Leftos agree with most Smile Haven't yet got to speed challenges, just beat battlemahcine. My 350Z was too weak to get out of corners in that checkpoint race, no matter what I did, 2nd was best, so had to drive it for ages.

Was hoping drifting was not so icey, but more with the same engine setup. Sure it would have been superhard to drift then, but as you can tune your suspension and add a lot of power, it could have been done. Now it's an ok compromise for not too serious and still hard.

Also it was nice that the game was more cleaver than me. Sold my FWD Chevrolet and got a RWD Dodge as a dragster. It had plenty of torque, so I thought I'd win easily. Well first 1/2 mile dragstrip came, only 3 gears and was revving to the limiter at the end of the run maxing out only 229km/h, where as my sucky FF Cheavy went 245km/h Smile

I had that problem once last night. It doesn't happen often for me.

Dvd5 conversion worked for me, at least the install, but all the track files seem to be there just didnt play through all of them.
You're basically extracting and re-compressing the files, theres no reason for it not to work.
You guys did choose CAB when you re-compressed it right?

@Kamikaze: After finishing the first 20 or show race days (after the second showdown to by exact) all cars are unlocked (some are unlocked at the start, some after the first showdown, and all cars after the second showdown.) In 20 race days I was lucky enough to grab a Free Car Marker and got the Zonda. Man is that a beast. That car totally made my day.
