troubleshooting without actually seeing your pc isnt easy. I still would suggest to try to disable as many background-programs as possible. And the usual updating of drivers for everything else apart from the gfx-card might help also.
Another thing that might cause slowdowns is, if some of your bios-settings are bad. Disable caching of video and mainboard-bios, as that often leads to clunky and stuttery performance. |

I repeat 11500 on 3dmark06 on Vista. My pc is fine. Gears of War runned in dx10 at 60fps all maxed out.

Yes there is some specific issue like for the other user with a 8800GTX and slowdowns.
The only codec installed in divx and there is nothing strange installed on my pc.

Uninstalled the K lite codecs, nothing, still lags ie 15fps

Got the same. Even 9 fps during smoke spreading at the begining. I don`t get it. System requirements are very low and engine isn`t very demanding for PC. Also game crashes same like GOW.

It looks like the same engine as HBM ffs, it shouldn't be that demanding! Probably porting bugs (what else..)

I had this problem too. I would play with no problems at all at 60FPS at all times. I would do some things on my pc and play GoW again and all the sudden I am at 15FPS!! I would then reboot my pc and then be back at 60FPS. It kept happening so I finally looked into what was running in task manager. I found that with Vista32 my Epson Print CD Monitor was killing my pc! I would have 3 to 4 instances running. This happened after every DVD I printed. So now after I print my DVDs I make sure the instances are gone and I always have good windows experiences now with internet, unraring and gaming. I have to look into getting new print drivers, just haven't had a chance yet.
Just a thought, maybe you are having a similar problem.

When i run the game CPU usage is always to minimum. There must be something that causes the slowdown on same pc because now reading this topic we are four with the same issue and all with high-end pc too.
Anyway the game is still playable with some difficulties and is very short so who cares: 2 days and it will be uninstalled.

Hey Guys, been lurking for years, actually made an account today, welcome me ! 
What I found is.. When I set the sound acc to one tick down from full, the game will not run, IE, crash to desktop. If I move the ticker another to the left, the game will launch. So, the game for me runs, in full accel or two ticks down, not the 1st tick. Hope that helps someone. I also saw that disabling shadows to Hero, still leaves shadows on the other characters. IF shadows are slowing you dowm, turn them all off, I have em on and no lags. But I do notice the lil lag people are talking about with the pausing? Barely there, but it's there. My pc is e6600 3.6 8800GTS 2 gig 667, Antec trio 650 3 12v rail. Anyway, hey now.
2600k, GigaByte R9 290x, 8 gis of ram on Windows 7 X64

I have the camion scene and the fps were 15. I disabled the filters and they became 100fps !!.

I have no issues launching the game and playing - framerate is fine, no audio stuttering, etc. But my issues is with the controls. I am using a keyboard and mouse and every 10 seconds or so the character will spin madly around for a few seconds and then stops - making the game essentailly unplayable. Even if I am not touching either the mouse or keyboard and just let it sit it does the same thing. I remember having this problem in some other really old games when I HAD a joystick plugged in. This is a new machine which has never had a joystick installed. Running on Vista 32bit with 4GB Ram and a GTS 8800.
Thanks for any helpful input...

I don't think people even mind anymore. Almost everyone has an x360 already so they can just use that on their PC's, and quite a bit of people already (like me) just bought a 360 pad anyways cause their nice to have. A lot of the games coming out are ports from the xbox version anyways so the buttons correspond with the game.
Also it's MS, they could care less what people want, they force their bullshit on everyone reguardless if they like it or not and because society is so weak and stupid, they take it in, like that windows live bullshit, that will most likely succeed in killing online gaming for PC's because people don't see the harm it does.
