Im gonna buy a new 32" LCD this month, but im not sure wich one to pick.

Samsung LE-32S81B or LG 32LC51 is what im looking at atm.

The LG is slightly cheaper, but know Samsung makes good TV´s..

Any ideas?

Tv is something you should never ever buy on other peoples opinions or without seeing it in person. You should really go around in stores and see what kind of tvs they have on display. All big shops should have their online site with prices and availabe items so you can check there what models they have. Every person experiences picture in different way so you should really decide for yourself.

Buy the R model of the Samsung instead of the S model, if you decide on buying the Samsung.

I hate LG, cheap crap IMO but go with what you can afford. I'd find a mdoel from each that you like and want to fight for then look up reviews on each one.

I'm thinking of buying one too, anyone heard of Hanspree LCD's?

They're really cheap, and the overall opinion is that they're fairly good, but i think the contrast is rather low (i think it's 1500:1)

hhmmm I have a 42" LG Plasma and its better than a samsung Plasma, looks great as a TV and its amazing in HD Wink

After looking at the LCD's in Currys the LG LCD looked amazing in HD but nearly all LCD's look Crap for SD images (Normal TV, Sky etc) as they suffer from motion blur and blocky images (thats why I went for Plasma, no motion blur and gives the best quality for SD images Smile ).

Oh yea, the person in the shop said something about LG and Samsung make their own LCD / Plasma pannels which makes them cheaper than the rest as most other brands get theirs made for them (most likely by LG and samsung Razz )

only because your 32" wasnt that great doesnt mean every LG screen sucks. But, yeah most of them does Razz

I would go for full HD 42" either Tatung or Hyundai. Cheap and you dont need to use 2000 euro to get a good 42"...

There are lots of cheap 32" LCD TVs, most of them probably suck tho..

don't forget that plazmas have lower resolution than lcd and they cost more for no apparent reason

to get full hd plazma prepare to cash out at least 1.5k where good lcd will cost u 1k

good quality 720p plazma costs at least 70-100 euro more than lcd one

best thing to do is look at them yourself as its your money but when you see a 42+" screen comaired to a 32", you will want to go bigger (especially when you see it in a big store) Razz. We looked at a 32" screen in Currys and because of the size of the shop, it made it look like a portable TV Razz

only prob with looking in store is you don't get to play around with the picture settings and other factors can also affect your viewing

plenty of good info on web, avforums.com is a good resource..

my own opinion is samsung, the r87/8 is a nice set if that hasn't been replaced

if going for 40"+ i'd be looking for 1080p these days, otherwise i'd be going for 100hz. Seen some great offers on 1080p sets, their prices are dropping..

nouse I've looked at some similar models here, and I want to ask you sth: In the reviews is says that it has HDMI, and other connectors, and PC. What is that? DVI? I'm thinking of buying one, but it would also be monitor...

I have a LG 42 " LCD FullHD 1080p, an i tell you, it is without a doubt fucking beautiful, unless you own one, an have it sitting in your room, watching 720p or full 1080p movie's, or played any type of DX10 game, or atleast graphically intense, and have atleast bought one, or bought an returned it due to person opinion's, then you really can't bad mouth it, probably the best purchase i've ever made.

the PC input is just vga 15-pin .... mine has 3 HMDI inputs, so one for HTPC (with a dvi to HDMI adapter), one for DVD and one for the cable box.

oh, and the picture quality was great right out of the box ... the place I got it from has no-questions 30 day refund so I was prepared to return it if PQ was shitty for Standard Def, but to my surprise it actually looks pretty decent.

but seriously, having a HDTV >>>>>>>>> everything else, so I would really be surprised if you bought one and were disappointed Wink

I thought about getting 1080p, but I realized I can't keep up with the gaming hardware at native resolution (1920x1080) so there was really no point since I'd rather run games at the native res...

Changed the topic title, since its now not just about the two brands Wink

Anyway, its now one week until im buying, and heres another question for you lovely people:

Go 37" Full HD, or 40" HD ready (720p/1080i) ?

Almost the same price at the moment anyway.. What would you choose?

neither lol, as 40" is generally considered the minimum to make 1080p worthwhile ..

actually that considered i'd prolly go with the 40"..

Are you going to be using this as a HTPC? planning on playing games on it or surfing the internet? if so I'd probably say go with 1080p for the higher res, but if all you are using it for is TV and movies then I'd say don't worry about 1080p.

btw, right now the prices here are as follows:

37" sharp aquos 720p = $1000
37" sharp aquos 1080p = $1300
42" sharp aquos 1080p = $1500
40" samsung 720p = $1200
40" samsung 1080p = $1500

I can't believe how much the prices are falling! You know, after playing a few games from my couch I realized I still prefer playing a foot or two away from my monitor sitting at my desk (FPS at least) Wink So in my case I am probably only really going to use the computer hookup for movies.

I guess it also depends on how far away you're planning to sit from the screen?
