planescape torment... The story must truely have been very unique and good if people are still boasting its qualities nowadays...

Apart of that shame on anyone who didn't play deus ex Rolling Eyes Still the most outstanding game I ever played.

(best games I wish I had FINISHED...)
- Outcast - had to skip it since my machine was not powerful enough for the voxel 3D engine
- Psychonauts - lost my savegames in a HD crash, didnt want to start all over again
- Fallout 1/2 - dont know why..... had no time when they came out
- Elder Scrolls 1/2 - too many bugs and bad performance....and when whey were finally patched there were other games keeping me busy
- this other Elder Scrolls game (no RPG), was an action-adventure with jump and run, forgot the title but looked promising
- Giants - got it running, but did not get into this very strange setting and gameplay. ultra-hard difficulty, too, was a problem.
- BattleZone 2 - the sequel to the BEST 3D action/strategy mix I had ever played (until then)...but it couldnt motivate me, no idea why....
- Freelancer - took to much time to finish.... Sad

ScummVM rocks.

About Grim Fandango, played it again (for the 5th time) last month, yes I love it.

And yeah ScummVM rocks...especially on mobile platforms, where visuals isn't an issue...but nothing as good as the original, just wish I would have played these when they first were released.

I actually started replaying baldurs gate 2 yesterday and i really dont get what you mean with alot of micromanagement.

But on topic i have to agree that missing Outcast feels really bad.

Just doesent feel the same as modern rpg that does alot of the boring stuff for you, but also the extremely boring gfx kinda put me of.

Extremely boring GFX? did you take a second to look at the background artwork?
Baldur's Gate 2 looks so much better than the hollow Neverwinter Nights, which is so cubic and repetitive looking.

It's not how many polys you got, it's what you do with 'em.

Blame! don't act!

Heard there were some highres texture mod for SS2 which should give it a more "modernized" look?

What's amazing in fallout 2 is that this game is playable only after you start using your imagination...

Me for example every time I started playing it, I got disgusted by the awful animation and colours, but right after I finished the dungeon level, my eyes got used to this game and it started looking just like a cartoon...

My problem with older games, e.g baldurs gate etc is that they just look so much worse than newer games and not just the gaming world but the character screens, character creation, inventory screen when you see your char with weapons etc
The small detailts i guess but I just dont get sucked into playing like with KOTOR, NWN etc etc
Note that im not saying the older ones suck, but just not my cup of tea.

What teenage virgin do you have to sacrifice to the game gods for Baldurs Gate 3 I wonder Razz

well i think atleast 1... but to get a good one that would be Worthy of bearing the name of Baldurs gate... you d have to sacrifice a whoooole truckload of kidnapped teenage virgins... its improbable that theyd make it like bg1-2 (etc those were quite difficult and more of a "thinkin games" in my opinion) and nowadays they just make em hack n slash simple and boring...

A friend of mine who played it a long long time ago keeps telling me about how awesome it was when we talk about oblivion or morrowind.
I tried it out a little a while ago but I just can't take it anymore. I wish I had played it when it came out, it would have been awesome.

The world is so huge... you litteraly have hundreds of towns and cities, and thousands of dungeons.

I also wish I would have played Privateer as I'm really into free roaming space sims like that, but when it came out I had no idea it even existed and I probably wasnt very interested in PC gaming back then.

I played both games and they were great.

I wish i still could enjoy games as i did with those two Sad
