well, i just started playing this game today, so i patched it up before i started (and the whole install/patching process & after configuring the gfx took me about 3 hours!!.. insane!)... and from reading what stuff IS included in 1.03 (camera options/fixes/anti-aliasing etc) i wouldn't want to play without that stuff... i got everything maxed 4xAA/AF etc... just shadows are @ low cause else the frames drop to like "5-7" hahaha... and thats unplayable... now im doin about 20 average and thats fine... 1024x sucked hard compared to the 1280x im running now...

i havn't really noticed many bugs yet... i saw an item twice in my inventory even tho i had it only once... but when i swapped an item in its place it went away... nothing else really... therefore i reccomend updating (if u can continue your old games)... always backup before tryin Wink

Just wondering if anyone have tried to get the game running with the 1.03-patch (not the beta-version). I haven't got time until the weekend to try it out myself so I thought I'll ask if anyone else have tried =)

It was quite a bit of struggling to get the clone working in the first place with the first update so I hope tihs won't cause more problems.

I _HATE_ this in ingame autopatch-crap with the game launcher! Evil or Very Mad

For an unknown reason I was only able to patch the game ONCE (after installing the first time, it updated to 1.1) but after that I never succeeded in updating further.
The updater ALWAYS quits with an error message that a patch file could not be found.
I reinstalled, tried everything (yes, firewall off, virusscan off etc.) but its always the same error. Sad

Good that I made a backup of my 1.1. so I am at least able tp play the 1.1. version.
I guarantee, I will never buy a game where patches are not free availible as standalone downloads. I also dont understand whats the philosophy behind this method - the protection doesnt seem to be enhanced with the patches. So why no simple patch download like for 99% of all other games??! Twisted Evil

Not sure if its the same for NWN2 but the original had the full patches available to download on their website so you didn't have to use the auto updater.

Yes, thanks for the tip, found the patch - but its still not working....unzipped these files are a *.RTP file.
I have absolutely no idea how to use these to patch the game.... Confused

sorry, too quick.... got it working... but my opinion is: this patch system is CRAP... 6 gigs free HD space required for applying a 60 mb patch Rolling Eyes omg

I think they need to be placed somewhere for the updater to be found, could be wrong though Very Happy

either place the zip or rtp file in the game folder and run the updater or place them in the game/temp folder and run the updater. (Think it's the game folder but the updater places the downloaded files in the temp folder)

NWN2 Patch v1.04 and Autoupdater v1.07 Released

Here is the fix list for v1.04:
Neverwinter Nights 2 – Version 1.04 Patch Notes
January 15th, 2007

New Features
General
• Voice Menu
Users can now press the Voice Menu key (‘V’ by default) to activate a menu from which they can quickly access frequently used voice commands and emotes. Users can drag these to the hotbar, as well.
• Added support for bindable keys to change the hotbar pages.
• You can now drag and drop buttons from the Mode Bar and Quick Cast Menu onto the Hotbar. This will also work for Spontaneously Converted spells.
• Players now have the option to turn on a second horizontal hotbar and 2 vertical hotbars.
• Users can now select in the options menu whether or not they want left click and hold in Driving Camera to move the character or mouselook.
• All combat modes can now be triggered instantly, except for Parry, Rapid Shot, and Flurry of Blows, which are deferred until the beginning of the next round.
o Your pending combat modes are now displayed on the action queue UI, with a countdown ticker, tooltip, and mouse click support.
o You can now toggle of and off a pending combat mode.
o Combat modes are no longer turned off for party members at the end of their combat round.
• Trees throughout the game should look better as many of the tree textures and models have been revamped to be more visually appealing.
• Localized versions of the NWN1 sounds used in the game have been added to their respective languages.
• Several new loading screen tips have been added to v1.04.
• Support has been added for displaying game information on the Logitech G15 Keyboard.
DM Client
• DMs can now drag items from the creator menu to the hotbar.
• DMs can now jump directly to an area.
• DMs can now add and subtract experience points, gold and levels.
Scripting
• EffectDamage() – A flag has been added to the EffectDamage()function which allows you to skip Damage Immunity, Damage Reduction, and Damage Resistance. The default for this flag is FALSE, so existing scripts will continue to work the same.
• Script Debugger - The NWN2 script debugger has been included with this version. It is located in the Utils directory, filename DebugServer.exe.
Toolset
• A comment field has been added to the Journal Editor.
• More robust undo/redo support has been added to the Conversation and Journal editors.
Bug Fixes
General
• The Mode Bar and Mini-map will now properly retain their hidden or revealed state after area transitions.
• The Practiced Spellcaster and Improved Rapid Shot feats are now available for characters that meet the prerequisites.
• The Manyshot feat will now properly grant additional attacks per round.
• Improvements have been made which reduce load times in some situations.
• The game will no longer crash when attempting to buy when on a blank page.
• The game’s transition to Act 2 would very rarely fail to occur. This has been made more reliable.
• Dual-wield slots will now persist on the hotbar during module transitions.
• Holding the left mouse button to move will now function properly in all camera modes and angles.
DM Client
• DMs will no longer automatically run lore checks on acquired items.
• Feedback has been added for several DM abilities.
• DMs can now spawn items into containers.
• The DM Client should no longer crash on transition to large exterior areas.
Effects/Spells
• Wildshape and Elemental Shape are no longer dispellable.
• The Wildshape effect will no longer disappear when saving.
• Devil’s Sight now properly allows affected characters to ignore concealment penalties due to darkness.
• Balagar’s Iron Horn radius reduced from 30 feet to 20 feet.
• Greater Fireburst will now do the correct amount of damage.
• Monks will no longer get their class AC Bonus while wearing armor or using a shield.
• Improved Reaction will now properly calculate uses per day.
• Characters with crossbows can now use Rapid Shot if they have Rapid Reload.
• Multiple types of Damage Resistance on the same item should now function more reliably.
Items
• The game will no longer crash if you drag an item from a magic bag onto the magic bag which contains it.
Toolset
• TRX files are now renamed when renaming their associated area.

The following 2DA files have been changed in v1.04:

Use the top-down view, that's the best one imo.

But the camera is the least of the problems with this buginfested game.

An expansion pack for the Obsidian-developed Neverwinter Nights 2 will be coming to North America and Europe in "fall/autumn 2007" and will be titled Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer.

The new expansion takes place shortly after the events of the popular RPG, following the final boss battle with the King of Shadows. The adventure begins--or rather, continues--when the player's character wakes up stranded deep beneath the earth, all alone and surrounded by a horde of evil spirits.

Mask of the Betrayer will be set in Rashemen, close to the powerful nation of Thay. It will feature a new campaign, new levels, dozens of new feats and spells, and new races, classes (and prestige classes), companions, weapons, armor, and crafting options, as well as "hordes" of new monsters and enhanced modding tools.

The first Neverwinter Nights game, featuring classic dungeons-and-dragons gameplay, also included BioWare's Aurora toolset, which let players create their own dungeons and put them online and was released in 2002. The original spawned several expansion packs, including Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide, as well as the sequel. The franchise has sold 3 million copies to date in more than 40 countries and in 10 languages.

Screens from said expansion and whatever else information there is to be had about the NWN games.
(Mods, tools, PW's and alot more, quite a good site for NWN related stuff aside from the official forums but those require membership and registered copies of the games you own)

EDIT: 1.05 should also be out as soon as the toolset is fixed for it. Smile
(Was released two days ago but pulled due to the above issue)

Quick question that hopefully somebody can help me with.

I am tired of waiting for no-cd's updates for the game (have copies of both NWN2 & MOTB installed) and wish to purchase the game (especially with all the new 3rd party modules coming out). Anyway, I want to play through NWN2 before MOTB. With MOTB installed and a previous no-cd, one was able to select, at the game menu, whether to play NWN2 or MOTB.

I would love to have the option to play either, so can I get away with purchasing an original NWN2 (and still be able to play MOTB with the copy installed) or should I grab an original MOTB (and will I still be able to play NWN2 with my copy of it installed)? Which to choose?

Thanks for any help.

NWN2 updated with the MotB expansion requires the MotB disc to start but both use separate cd-keys albeit those are easily changed via the nwncdkey.ini in the game folder. Smile

You could also use a mini-image and the latest Daemon Tools/SPTD. Smile

Oh and the latest crack is for the 1.11.xx.52 but there was a hotfix release a short while ago which updated the game to 1.11.xx.53 (Various smaller bugs.) and that patch is currently not cracked and there will probably not be a crack until the next proper 1.12 patch which is currently being developed.
(Various fixes and enhancements as usual.)
