I read thru 25 pages and still didn't see the answer.

Is the PLATiN release the censored version or not?

Please if someone could just give a straight answer I can die happy

It's the European version so it's not censored, compared to for example the US version which has reduced gore and nudity.

ok cool, I played it for a bit and got worried

I have not heard any swearing in the dialog, and I just got my first card and there was no nudity.

Is there more cursing in the dialog later?
Is the the first card susposed to have her with her clothes on?

The first card you get should be during the prologue and it is a bit tamer than some of the later cards, there is also alot of swearing later on.

Try talking to various NPC's in the first chapter and you should notice a few differences.

For example some of the local brawlers at the inn use the insult "Your momma sucks dwarf cock" and the local thugs use a harsher language than the common peasants but even they say the occasional curse now and then.
(Dwarves especially love to swear.)

As for those cards you will probably find a few even in the first chapter.
(As a example one of the farmgirls like flowers.)

Well, in his case I don't think there'd be any difference ^^

I'm talking about timed loading though, not a "feeling" ^^

Please someone else, confirm this:

Moving from x1900xt 512 to 8800gt 512 , loading times are cut in half.Nothing else changed, just gpu.

Seems to me Surray mate it's just the faster memory ( both should be 1.1ns gddr3 but 8800gt has 1900mhz mem while x1900xt has only 1450 mhz ) Maybe shader speed too? But that seems the only plausible answer, donno what else to think of.

I guess one could check this by overclocking their gpu memory and record the loading times before and after.

It still makes no sense, graphics memory is about bandwidth, giving the graphics card stuff to work with. while loading, a graphics card has nothing to do other than filling up it's own memory so it can start working when the game itself starts. any modern graphics card should theoretically be able to fill up it's own memory in less than a second, only once it starts working and has to put more and more information through that memory, the actual speed of it becomes important.

I will also get a new graphics card in a week or two, and I'll then try that out myself.

If it really is true, then it sounds like some problem with the game. Who knows, maybe that next patch will fix that problem, and speed up the loading so it's as fast as it is for you with the new graphis card for everyone.

I'm also thinking of sth else... Could it be that game is optimized for Nvidia cards? ( Although I don't see how this could affect loading times ?? )

Funny thing, I haven't seen any gpu review including witcher performance anywhere....

I think it's quite a demanding game, judging from my system which still cannot achieve 60 fps in some areas/ big battles while maxed out @1280x1024 16xaf 4xaa (maximum options available in witcher ).

The Witcher 1.2 patch and demo dates ( Development info )
posted by Elwro on Thu 29 November 2007, 01:20:43
More info on Witcher, The - More info on CD Projekt

A Polish site called The Witcher's Biggest Unofficial Site has spoken with folks from CD Projekt Red during the Poznań Game Arena show (no English webpage, so no link) about The Witcher. Summary:

* The 1.2 patch should be released somewhere around December the 7th
* The demo should appear somewhere around December the 13th
* The editor (called "Djinni") should be relased "somewhere around those dates"
* The series will be continued, but it's not decided whether what comes next will be an expansion or a sequel.

source; RPG CODEX.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully they stick to the dec 7th date, been wanting to complete this one pretty much more than any other game released last few month or so(haven't really even touched mass effect partly because of this). Not sure about the demo, crpgs don't lend themselves to demos much so seems a waste of time, imho. But good news about the continuation and the editor...looking forward to both.

Question:

In act IV where you get to that peasant village, the innkeeper doesn't have an option to access my stash inventory. Is this a bug or is there some other character where I can access it? I'm screwed if there isn't since I have much important stuff there.

It IS possible but not directly like in the earlier chapters, where you could access the stash at once as soon as you started talking to the innkeeper.
In chapter 4 you have to choose one dialog option ("there is something else" or so...) before you can access the stash

strange, I wondered, too, why its different from the previous three chapters here....

This game would be so much better if the character development was actually fun. Seems like you really don't have that much choice and with 3 points/level that you gain (until level 15) you pretty much just put points into everything. No real specialization.

Doesn't evey character look exactly the same by level 30?

while you get lots of copper points, you get less of the better ones, and have to start to specialize. you only get 1 silver point a level for example, so you can't go and spend points on everything like you can with the copper points.

Yup same here...both awesome games, which both stand out on their own merits. But def once the Witcher gets patched up, I'll have to say this wins just purely on story alone, one of the best of all crpgs I've ever played in about 15 yrs+ of being a gamer.

Yup, just caught this. Gametrailers really has become my favorite one spot to check out for reviews, even if you don't agree with the guy, you see why he likes or dislikes the game and its all around fair. And yeah, 8.6 is very fair since its an excellent game but with some technical issues that it should be dinged on.
