heh. I completed it once and replayed some stuff already, and once I got a new GPU I'll play through it again.
It's like a whole new game if you switch from low or medium to high or very high.

Plus there's enough freedom so you can just play differently than you did the first time.

First playthrough was on Delta difficulty and I sneaked around most of the time, avoiding larger battles. Once I got a new graphics card I'll play it in normal and rush in and have some kickass open battles Smile

This is Crysis thread, not The Witcher.

I just reread the post I quoted and you talk about The Witcher. This is Crysis thread and both games are unreleated. You always go offtopic too much.

its stupid really, my light hearted semi-'off topic' post, spawned two even more off-topic and pointless ones from him, rather than him just wondering off to find something useful to do.

surray - any word yet on if those new nvidia beta drivers gave any kind of performance boost? you said youd give em a shot.

Right, sorry forgot about that.
So I was using Forceware 163.75 before, which is a pretty old driver from before the dozen beta drivers with supposed crysis performance enhancements.

My hardware is Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.8ghz, 2 gb DDR2-800 CL4 ram, GeForce 7900 GTX.
I ran the benchmark at 1280x1024 on both all medium and all high, here are my results:

Forceware 163.75 - Medium
Min FPS - 9.95
Max FPS - 24.79
Avg FPS - 15.99

Forceware 169.17 - Medium
Min FPS - 10.86
Max FPS - 26.10
Avg FPS - 16.57

Avg FPS increase on Medium in percent: 3.62%

----------------------------------------------

Forceware 163.75 - High
Min FPS - 3.78
Max FPS - 12.93
Avg FPS - 8.88

Forceware 169.17 - High
Min FPS - 4.97
Max FPS - 12.33
Avg FPS - 9.20

Avg FPS increase on high in percent: 3.60%

Well, that was pretty disappointing. I was expecting maybe 2-5 fps more on medium at least, after like a month of releasing one beta driver after the other, almost all of which are supposed to increase crysis performance. My graphics card is not good enough for crysis, maybe the 8800 series saw a better improvement, I dunno. For my now mid-range gpu, those drivers were kinda useless.

have noticed that the physics setting in graphics seems to be tied to your cpu (makes sense) as can turn that to high on my 7800gt since upgrading my processor without any slowdown..

thanks for the benches Surray

on medium-low probably. Really needs 2 gigs of ram, and a better graphics card, a 7600gt, 7900gs-gt or x1950pro are a good start for low price. 512 ram on the card helps but not necessary.

I run a XP 4600, 2 gigs, x1950pro, no overclocking, I get a solid 20-30 fps in multiplayer, little lower in single. heres my settings:

Running 1280x960 resolution. Game looks great and runs smooth.

This game totally rocks! I just wish my ancient AMD64-3400, 1GB DDR, 256MB 6800GT AGP ( lol ) pc at home would play it! Oh well maybe Ill wait for an X360 port Smile

In the mean time in case you are wondering I have been playing it on a pc I built for a customer! Ive got one more week with it before they want it for Christmas! Hope to finish the game by then! hehe Razz

Intel Quad-Core Q6600
4GB DDR2-800
512mb 8800GT Gainward Bliss PCI-E
Windows XP Professional 64 Bit

I play the game with everything set to high and the framerate is like goddamn silk. I love it!

Also how can the game play on higher than high settings? Very high is greyed out goddammit! Or is this the DX10 mode and requires Vista?

The multiplayer is great, in my opinion. And though the singleplayer didn't offer anything new to the genre (what does anyway?) it was still entertaining, the demo level wasn't exactly that fun, though I did love the rest of the game.

yeah, the demo level sucked ass, probably why I waited over a month to even try the full game.

Well there is some Config that gives you all DX10 features in DX9.

yes. that will still have very high greyed out, but high actually becomes like very high.
works well and you get almost all the extra eye candy like sun shafts and more realistic lighting.

it won't have all the effects obviously, because some of the stuff is simply DX10 only but it's hard to notice any difference in most places.

damn I wish multiplayer had online ranking and stats or something.
without any saved stats it just feels more like I'm wasting my time than with other online multiplayer games like world in conflict, where your stats get saved and you got a ranking.

eventhough power struggle is great fun I find myself playing pretty rarely because I got no motivation to go play it without a ranking or anything.

I dunno.. maybe it's just me.

wow! the german pc games hardware benched crysis with a geforce 8800 ultra 3-way SLI system.

Very high details, 1920x1200, anti aliasing
37fps average.

a single ultra gets 14.8 fps average in that situation. nice scaling for 3-way sli there.

I guess that's close to the performance we'll be getting with a geforce 9 enthusiast card.

that's in the paradise lost level (ice) btw, which is a bit tougher to render than the tropical environments it seems.

you have to realise that crysis is a true next generation game...

it'll only run really well how it was MEANT to be played a year or 2 from now... when the 30 or 40 patches have fixed whats wrong with it Very Happy

yeah, I don't mind that.
I'll get hardware that's good enough for it eventually and it'll still look breathtaking next year when I do.

that way I'll get to play crysis on very high about the same time that cool mods start to show up which is the time that crysis starts to get really interesting.
