Don't know if this should be posted here, but I suppose it should, as it is software related (to my knowledge).

Hey all, well, I'm having a problem with my microphone, the mic volume is way to low.

I've had the mic for 2 years and I've never had any trouble with it, prolly because i've ONLY used it with Ventrilo, where you can raise the mic volume above what you have it at in Windows.

So when I was gonna use Teamspeak with a friend yesterday, he complained he could barely hear me, so I check the standard Windows Sound Recorder, and I could barely hear myself.

So I go into Sound settings, Options, Properties and then choose the Input option.

And the only one I can change there is "Recording".

All the other tabs are greyed out, so I can't change them at all, i've tried reinstalling my audio drivers and all that, it won't solve it. My driver is the Realtek ALC888 (Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager).

This is how it looks:

It doesn't matter in the slightest if I mute or unmute the options, nothing changes (aside from muting "Recording" which is the only slider that does anything. -_-).

Anyone else had this problem or knows what could be doing this? Obviously, the problem could lie in the Microphone itself, but I doubt it, as it has perfect sound if I use ventrilo with the extra high volume settings...

*Edit: Also, in the Recording Control (the pic), when I click Options, I can't choose Advanced Controls, as it is also greyed out, I know though, that if I could do that, I could press a button named Advanced where there's a Microphone Boost option. Gah, this is driving me crazy. Razz

Do you had a look in control panel > audio (for vista, don't remember under xp)

There are also settings for the mic here that might render useless others settings elsewhere.
