|
 |
Ok so all AAA+ games have come out for this fall. What do you think now about the games, now you played and finished them?
Overall I can say I am pretty disappointed in most of them.
Only COD4 came out looking and playing great. Biggest disappointment is assassin's creed. There are so many bugs and the gameplay sucks so hard that it isn't even worth playing. I think Halo 3 and NFS:pro street are not that fun aswell. Looks like it was mostly hype only AGAIN. Really hope GTA 4 is going to rock next year
What do you think?
PS. This is about the XBOX360 I am talking about...

mass effect was an absolute gem, reallly pushed the envelope on all fronts, because i didnt read into alot I was amazed with what I got. Halo 3 was disapointing, ass creed was disapointing, cod 4 was good but its retreading the same ground and the singleplayer campaign was woefully short, bioshock was a lesson in storytelling, the gameplay didnt quite match it.
Overall the gaming year has been a very good one, but as with hype, these games always will fail to deliver on what they promise. That aside, for the xbox, this year has been unstoppable for game releases, Ive never felt so spoilt for choice, looking back at my xbox in summer 2006 when I got it there were only a handful games really worthy of purchase, its changed completely since then. Heres looking at GTA4 to set off another stellar year for the xbox!

I quite enjoy Assassins Creed actually, I guess if you were expecting it to jerk you off while you play you're bound to be disappointed.
Halo 3 was my biggest disappointment I'd say, mediocre graphics, only a few segments with exciting gameplay (scarabs) and the multiplayer is infested with leet kiddies who don't know the meaning of team play. COD4 is far superior in my opinion.
Mass Effect was definitely the highlight though, it was a sad time when I completed it. It's always great when you've got an interesting virtual world to explore.

Me and my mates play h3 the most. But I haven't bought Mass Effect or CoD4 (I played the beta) so I can't really have an opinion on the subject.
We mostly play multiplayer games, and I think Halo 3 is easier to pick up for people who are new to games or just drunk. Not everyone of my friends are all that great at games in general so its easier for them to tag along in the warthog or something. Or some drunken 4 player Co-Op which ends up in Deathmatch somehow..("Dude,I'm serious..I never meant to stick you").
Trying to play Team games with strangers over live in general is like playing dice..You never know what you get. So its best enjoyed with friends.
Halo 3 is kind of mediocre in many aspects, but it works.
Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

I'd have to say CoD4 tops the list for me. I still play it regularly online, and I'm just about to re-venture into the single player to go through veteran difficulty.
Mass Effect was ok, definitely worth a playthrough (or two.. heh) but I didn't think it was anything amazing. I think they slapped a bunch of average pieces of tech and ideas together shrouded by a nice story and characters and people forgive the short-comings.
Halo 3 (despite my glowing enthusiasm of the past for it) was mostly crap. I only played online enough to snag the achievements and I have no intention of ever touching it again. The game was a super blast for me going through the 4 player co-op, that being the ONLY experience I've ever had through all of the Halo games, I have never played through by myself. But the amazing 4 player co-op is not enough to warrant all the praise Halo 3 gets.
I was never interested in Assassin's Creed, and after viewing/reading all the reviews (from reviewers that aren't busy sucking Ubisoft's dick over it), I'm glad I stayed away from it. Seems like a big pile of rubbish to me. Although the animation/movement technology they packed into it is very impressive. I hope it's a new standard.
Rock Band I am still getting mileage out of, and enjoying it very much, just waiting for that online world tour mode patch, seeing as how all my friends in the area suck as this game.

I never played mass effect that's why I did not put it on there.
Kane & Lynch sucked sooooooooooooooo hard... the 6.0 from gamespot is to high for what that crap "game" brings.
Kane & Lynch + Assassin's Creed is the biggest let down of 2007

considering the hitman games gunplay was always shite (yes it was you naysayers), it was no surprise to me that io interactive making a game with gunplay at the centre of gameplay, turned out the game it did.
I never got hyped for asses creed, i read a few bits n bobs but mainly stayed away from the trailers, I never expected it to wank me off cook me dinner and tweak my nipples, even so when i played i was shocked and horrified by the simplicity/repetitivity of the gameplay. What attempt there was to disguise is to be honest embarrassing. Nevertheless its a fun game if you grab a guide and try to collect everything, due to the nice free running system and beautiful animation.

Bioshock - Amazing game
Kane & Lynch - Shite

Mass Effect - great if you like that sort of thing
Simpsons - Fun
Crash of the titans - Fun for the young uns
Timeshift - Really good shooter, take the time to play it
Jericho - Jury still out, need to play it more
FIFA 08 - more of the same, like it though

Tomb Raider - fun but needs a major graphical overhall now
Ace Combat - don't get all the fuss

The Darkness was pretty awesome. But after beating it, I dont think Il go back to it.
I think its retarded that Bioshock doesnt let you change the stick controls to Southpaw. I just cant stand playing FPS without Southpaw. This is probably the main reason I stopped playing Bioshock.
-The Orange Box is pretty cool. Episode 2 is nicely done. Pretty fun overall. I dont like Episode 1 though. And Portal was also pretty fun.
-Mass Effect seems sweet for an RPG. But I just didnt get into it much since I didnt give it enough time. I stopped playing after I got upto that embassy place with all the trees and water and stuff. But I know its probably an amazing game since its made by BioWare. And Knights of The Old Republic is easily my most favorite game of all time.
-Assassins Creed is also kinda nice if Im in the mood for it. There are bugs and some framerate issues. its a worth a try for people who havent played it.
-Halo 3 was decent. Not the best game in my opinion and definitely not nearly as good as the hype. I dont see whats so special about Halo 3. Its a good game though.
-COD 4....Ive been drooling over this game since E3 during summer. This game is insanely hot. I think the aspect that puts it over the top is the perfect framerate. This game is so freakin perfect lol I sound like a fanboy but damn I LOVE this game!!!!! and Ive always loved the COD (except COD 3 cuz I never played it lol) since COD 1. but Im taking a break from playing it today because right after playing COD4, everything else seems lame...especially in the framerate department.
Currently trying to beat Episode 2. I based my judgments only from playing single player though.
I heard some nice things about Rock Band but I thought it would be kinda shitty if I dont have the guitar controller or the drums.

For me it's Mass Effect on number 1 COD4 and bioshock tie for number 2 and the Orange Box is third.
