CRAP!!!!! I can't find my "legit" copy of BF2...I guess there is no other way then to move the search to the ATTIC!!!!!...
EDIT!: Was just up there (the attic that is) and it's a TOTAL FRACKING ( see I said it AGAIN! ) MESS!...My son is at a friend's house and will not be back until the morn. Now one might ask "why do one need him"...well HE CREATED THE FRACKING MESS UP THERE!...see, i said the Frack word...AGAIN!

Infantry combat quickly devolves into camp fest due to the rail-gun precise Kar98 and Lee Einfeld. Both can hit a target at max view distance without breaking a sweat assuming he's standing still. Mysteriously however, try to shoot someone at point blank range unsighted with either of these weapons, and the bullet veers 90 degrees in either direction. Strange stuff.
Tank combat is good...think back to Call of Duty 2 - that tank mission. That's exactly how it feels but with useable sights and HE/AP rounds. 1 round out of a 40mm or 75mm kills any other tank. Kinda pointless to have all the different types of tanks imo as one round kills em all.
Air combat, meh. I don't know how they expect you to fucking see anything as the cockpit takes up 95% of the screen and can't be removed. What good is mouselook to the left and to the right when you can't fucking see infront of you for shit?
Uniforms are very similar from far off. You have to tweak your brightness/contrast to be able to tell the difference between the tan and green. Bad choice of colors imo. I shoot first, ask later.
The compass around the minimap only serves to block out the most important part of the fucking minimap, the edge. Bad placement.
No medic class - and most servers haven't turned off Incapacitation. So when you die, you are INCAPACITATED (with no chance of being ressed) by default for 20 seconds. Plus another 20 second spawn time on most servers. That's 40 seconds per death. Bring a book or camp hard.
I give it about 2.5 weeks before we're down to maybe 2 US servers and 5-6 elsewhere. It's definitely a lot more polished then the other mods - but that doesn't change the fact that it gets old just as fast.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I think this is a case of realism over fun game-play. I don't like the lack of sights in tanks, the poor camera options, as you mentioned the giant cockpits in planes with only a small section to view. It just does not mix well with the gameplay.
I cant judge a shot in my tank just by looking, i'm not physically inside the tank, and the perspective in the game is not exactly realistic, its incredible hard to determine where I am aiming. Same goes for planes, made even harder by the cockpit, plus the inherent fog and speed at which things pass you by in BF2, makes it almost impossible and no fun.
I've played games like ARMA and Red Orchestra osfront, and they pull this off much better from what I see.

1. press "x" whilst in tank.
2. enjoy blowing stuff up.

Okay if that gives me a sight to work with, much better and alleviates a big concern I had with the mod. The cockpit on planes is annoying as hell though, in flight sims like IL2 when they force cockpit it works okay, because the maps are huge and you have time to aim shots and such. In this, its like arcade flight with hardcore sight limitation.
I would like to see rocket launchers too. There should be a lot of preparation to fire the missile, so it cannot be used to kill infantry, but that anti tank gun wasn't doing anything for me. The only thing I could do against tanks was lay mines and hope they run into them...which ussually my teammates end up doing.
Also, not really the mods fault here but damn BF2 is ugly. Never noticed how bad it all looks until I come back to it from COD4 and Crysis.

you will die alot and many times you wont know what the hell killed you, kinda annoying.
Also its hard to tell friend from foe. They look very identical to me, and you have to look at the friend for a pretty long time before his "blue friendly" name appears.

Now you know why so much soldiers die from friendly fire.

For me most playable and realistic fps was ATG mode in Vietcong. Two teams, last one standing wins, and if you die you're dead for whole round. Rambos would die first and campers would die second. Both would then leave server and only those that knew how to play stayed.
Now, for this one, does anyone knows for a good fast server (or torrent) with 1.41 patch? For me all ea servers are struggling to breach the sound barrier of 20 kb/s.

Use filefront, its still the best place for these types of things.
Heres the patch: http://files.filefront.com/Battlefield+2+v141+Patch/;6194285;/fileinfo.html
I click all their ads when I go there, try to keep them alive as long as possible.

Nah, most people will whine and go away instead. Solo Rambo, Sniper Elite or Grenade Ho playstyles are quite popular right now, but if you can't do that and you're being beaten by teamwork everytime, that makes game "bad" and "not fun". That's why Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Operation Flashpoint eventually went downhill, most people don't want game where you need to be good at what you do. It's so much more fun to toss grenades over fences in Karkand endlessly -.-
